did you need that 5mm to clear the coil? have you rolled your fenders? I'm looking at some 18x8.5 et35 wheels right now and apparently would need a 10mm spacer up front and would need fenders rolled to make them fit.

i had thought so but i have never ran them w/o the 5 in the front. fenders are not rolled. the 10mm sounds about right to clear the coil on a 8.5 wheel

Logan, could i possibly try your wheels on the front of my car this weekend? Or could we look to see how much clearance you have between the inside of your wheels and the coil? I'm looking at a set of wheels now that would have 1.3mm less clearance on the inside compared to your wheels without spacers on.

whats the specs of the wheels and tires? Most people run into issues with coils only cause once lowered to a certain height the collar on the strut hits the tire, not really a fender issue.

yeah, its rubbing between the coil and wheel i'm worried about. The wheels are 18x8.5 et30. I am going to be putting 225/40 tires on them

Sweet, thanks. I've got the measurements for the amount of clearance needed from the back of my wheels currently so i'll try that first. It just may be harder because right now the wheel probably wouldn't contact the coil because its smaller, and the balloon tires are going to be tougher to measure from. We are also going to try the montes from JPs car, so i'll let you know

So yesterday I found oil dripping from my intercooler, wondering if anyone knows a good diagnosis process. I've been searching and have read it may or may not be normal. Here's a link to my thread in the 1.8t forums with pics: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...8#post76935168

Was the MKV GTI offered in orange at any time besides the Fahrenheit edition? An orange GTI which I assume is a Fahrenheit, just randomly started showing up in the parking lot at work not far from my normal space. Black wheels (maybe stock), black badges, tint. No clue who drives it as it's there when I get there and when I leave.

Nope, was this over the weekend? We need to start having larger Vw turnouts at CCVT stuff, for some reason theres always only like one or two of us that get out there.

Dennio, you know I'll be down for a meet

Not going to sowo, but kinda wish I was. Show looks like a lot of fun from all the videos I've seen of it. The fitment of those maseratis

Sounds good to me... Random question, do you have a lift and/or air tools? I meant to install Audi 90 upper strut mounts when I installed my springs but completely spaced out and forgot

I've heard good things about Joe's Garage out in Floyd from the CCVT forums: www.joesgarageva.com. Other one that people on CCVT were recommending was Price's body shop here in Blacksburg. I don't have a personal experience with either of them.

I would also recommend staying away from Barnett's. Have a friend that had a bad experience there.

I'm not to familiar with paint prices. Is that higher or lower than expected. I was quoted $100 for my front rubstrip and 200-400 for my trunklid from them.

Sand/prime/sand yourself maybe? I've had a few shops paint parts for me very cheap over the years when I prepped them myself. Might be inconvenient for you, I don't know. I've had Harveys in Radford do some insurance work once and they also painted a pre-primed replacement part for me. Did good work both times but couldn't tell you much on price.

200 would be a steal. Average price for a bumper is about $300. any place that wants $500 for a bumper respray i'd stay away from. But at the same time for $200 i'd want to see previous work first, as cheap prices usually mean cheap materials.

Theres a paint shop in Radford that you could go to and buy your own paint/clear, that way you'll have leftover paint for the future and you'd only have to pay the shop labor for spraying.
