You know you can hit me up if you ever want/need some help.I cant wait to see it in driving condition.

Well after getting my truck back in MY garage and getting all my parts back out of storage from our move, then attending the swap meet on Sunday, I've become motivated to get my caddy done. Right now i'm working on stripping it down and doing the body work. I'm on the hunt for an ABA motor and a 5 spd trans. I have a lot of parts sitting in the garage waiting to go on so if anyone is ever bored and wants to wrench a bit...![]()

a/c, heater, blower all gone. this will be a weekend cruiser, so i don't need that crap.
I also found some guitar books in there!

these pieces are going to powder coat soon, but i need to weld some spring perches on the axle first...

So once i get the back window out and roll the shell out of the garage to power wash it, I'll start some body work and clean up the engine bay. free beer to any helpers

So I pulled the fuel tank last night and although it was really dirty, it cleaned up rather well and is solid as can be. There was some crap in it so I flushed it out and am just waiting for it to dry out and then I'll POR-15 it this weekend. The truck is officially stripped and i have it on blocks of wood on top of wheel dollies so I can roll it wherever I want. Thanks to Derek for that suggestion. It will be seeing sunlight this weekend for a good hose down and some engine bay smoothing.

Update: I power washed the engine bay to get all the 27 years of grease and grime out. I used some stuff called Purple Power which I added straight to my power washer. The bay is now cleaner than my MINI! Time for some shaving. So I finished coating the fuel tank in POR-15. This stuff is great! It doesn't give the best finish when brushing it on because it runs, but its a fuel tank, what the hell do I care?

That's a helluva lot of work for stock drum brakes.. you could have gone disk pretty cheap or at the very least gone Audi 4000 drums
#29
heh, yeah i know. that was before I decided to completely rebuild the truck. I was just doing some stuff to make it road worthy... Now I probably will put discs on it.![]()

Great work![]()
...some stuff I think about doing but never do ...will look for updates

I have to get up really early in the morning and didn't go out tonight, I'm bored and so I figured I'd make an update since its been a while, but I've made some progress on the truck.Powdercoated goodies

Thanks to the guys at Volkwerks, E-klusiv and Grunion all the unused holes are welded up and ready for smoothing.

Rear suspension is back under the truck as well as the fuel tank. I coated the rear leaf springs with Graphite Slip Plate to keep them nice and quiet. I also put in new poly bushings for the rear suspension. Axle is flipped with spring perches that were welded on by yours truly, then powdercoated. Overall drop in the rear is ~4" and load adjustable with corvette air shocks. I have some lowering plates if it still isn't low enough.

New rear stainless steel brake lines from Apex Tuning that I assisted in developing.
![]()
It doesn't look like a whole lot of progress, but between shuttling the truck to and from a couple of shops, having the work done and waiting for powdercoat, i think its coming along.
I feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and with some friends keeping on me about it I will try to make these updates more regular. I hope to have it at least running by November 1.
The next couple weeks should look like this:
-Finish smoothing the engine bay
-Hang motor
-Wiring
-Pull motor
-Paint bay
