Thread: Eurovan Tires - Bigger?

  1. 08-14-2008 01:21 PM #1
Has anyone tried the 65 series tire on the newer Eurovans?

I need more ground clearance (torsion bars are cranked full) and the 235/65/16 size will lift my 2002 Weekender about 3/4".

    Thanks,

    Bill

GoWesty sells a wheel/tire combo with 235/60/16 tires. However, their wheel is 7.5" wide. Not sure how wide yours are.

Here's an article from their library on the subject.

Has anyone gone to larger O.D. or taller tires without the lift-kit ? What is max. O.D. or tire size before fenders become an issue ? My 2002 MV needs some more ground clearance, I understand the lift -kits....true ground clearance for my needs is total wheel / tire combo O.D......thanks, Tom

    I run 225 75 16 on my 99 Eurovan

That's the tire not on the van here:

But yes it requires lifting it up and HD (pickup) springs in the back.

Thanks for photo & reply....before you did the lift...what else did you try to fit ?....I have read @ other postings here that 235/60-16 is the limit before fender clearance issues ? I looked @ Nokian (Finland) Haka 7 studs & Haka R snows, both can be had in 235/60-16. I have run Nokian on my semi in the past & they were "good stuff"

I really didn't try anything I went for the largest possible as that's what I wanted, this one (unlike the one in the background in the pic) I use for "heavy duty" anything goes and hauling...

Chatted with this guy (link below) a bit and Peter Seikel before I did the tire choice

I have been running 235/60/16 Michelins on my stock '01 EV MV w/o any issues for the past 3.5 years.

I don't think I'd put a tire with a larger OD on the van in stock form - mainly due to potential clearance issues on the leading edge of the rear bumper.

Hmm, not on my '01 - the distance between the bumper and tire is about half the distance between the tire and the front of the rear wheel opening.
