The VIN starts with a 3, so made in Mexico, like all JSW's. German car VIN's start with a W.

Iheart,
by Mini cooper'ish, you mean bumpy?
Any rubbing issues in the wheel wells?

Mico,Looks like a nice JSW. But I'm still enjoying the sedan I bought from you on Monday. Great car and a smooth transaction. Thanks for your help. Took the first extended trip today. Stop and go traffic south to San Jose and smooth return: 44MPG.

Any rubbing issues in the wheel wells?I would use the term firm. I'm not low enough to rub but, I should be fine when I drop it a little more.

Got me a Graphite Blue TDI DSG Sportwagen today. Will post pictures once it arrives from the port. Then will post pics once I put wheels on it b/c the stockers are ugly, lol.

iheart,
can you post the specs on the wheels.
do you have to run different offsets front to back? I was reading that 8.5" rims would need at least 42mm offset on the sportwagen,

You can fit anything, it just depends on what you want. Post up the wheels and tires you wanna use as well as your ride height and people will tell you yes or no.

Looks great! The bigger wheels make a huge difference in the appearance of the JSW.
And, I've always been a fan of CHs.

Friend of mine told me that someone already traded in a 2009 TDi Wagon at his dealership. He wanted to step up to a BMW!They are trying to sell it for over 27K and it has 19" RS4 wheels on it. Grey with no S/R and around 2k on the clock!

I have one more on the way. If anyone LOCAL - from SF Bay Area - is interested - email me.

Iheart,
if you don't mind,
what did the Koni coil install run on your Sportwagen?I'm seriously considering the Koni's. Which model/part # did you install? Is it the FSD's? Are they the sedan springs?
Sorry for all the questions.

Greetings 'texers- I'm a regular in the Corrado forum and on tdiclub.com, but I had been avoiding the Mk5 forum until I saw this thread.![]()
We bought our Variant from Dublin VW (just SE of San Fran) on Sept 13 and have almost 2500 miles on it so far. (We did have to drive it home to Vegas!) Reflex Silver/black int, 6 spd, pano roof, TDI. We wanted the rear airbags but passed because we were anxious to buy and we stumbled on this one. We absolutely LOVE it, and are looking forward to some springs, wheels, etc. I've already done all the vag com tricks and had some tint applied. The big question- we're getting 40mpg in mixed driving, and we drive it quite enthusiastically!!![]()
I just got back from a trip to Berlin/London where I picked up brochures for the Golf Variant (DE) and Golf Estate (GB), and as mentioned earlier, the lack of options in the states makes me jealous. How's a 6 spd, 4motion TDI with pano roof, xenon's, factory 18"s and a sport suspension package with two-tone leather (real leather) sport seats sound?![]()
Feel free to holler with any questions you have about these beasts- I've been doing my homework!

The wagons I saw in Europe were all German made, and of course all ours are from Puebla, Mexico.
And two questions for you guys- does anyone have a problem with more brake dust on the rear wheels than the fronts??? This is the 1st car I've owned with that issue, and I don't remember seeing it on the sedans.
For the tdi guys- can someone pull their plastic engine cover and check for any seepage around the top of the injectors? We have the smallest amount of dampness around #2 and 3 cylinder injector seals. #1 & 4 are dry or I wouldn't have even noticed it but for the difference.![]()

Good idea- Next week I'll jack up the rear and check how easily the wheels spin.![]()

2ohgti : What size wheels are they and which wheels are they? What size tires did it come with? Nice Wagon
#136
Why, yes, I did get one, just last week:
It's got more power than my 2006 TDI but it's quieter and smoother. A few things in my 2006 that aren't in the 2009: fold-flat front passenger seat, 12V power outlet on the console near the parking brake lever (which is a shame since the AUX input is close by inside the armrest compartment), remote fuel-filler door release, cover on the small compartment forward of the gearshift. On the other hand, just below the rear-seat air vents on the back of the center console is a handy AC outlet.
