I want to know more about Jeremy Renner's character... big actor for such a small role. Maybe Hawkeye? Or am I getting lines crossed?
#143
That's what I thought. Man, these movies really know how to tease.![]()

That's the point, I think. To foreshadow the coming Avengers movie.
Cap America is the last one, right? They're not giving anymore origin movies before that?

Should be, The Avengers is set for next year, I think?
There's been talk of Marvel doing lower budget, "smaller" films for some of the B-characters (Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, Black Panther), but nothing's materialized so far. But yeah, all the big characters have been covered.

Saw Thor in 3D last night. Was alright, about what I expected. I'm not really an Avengers fan to begin with (X-Men were better), so with that in mind, I wasn't that familiar with the story or characters (beyond the Norse god versions). It was a good movie for what it was. Nowhere near as fantastic as Iron Man for an origins flick though. Needed more Kat Dennings
I was impressed by the visuals. Asgard was one of the most amazing digital cities I've ever seen. I was almost annoyed when they would go back to Earth.
Skip the 3D version. It was completely not worth it. One of these days, someone will come along and do it right like Avatar did. Til then, it's just not worth the headache - literally.

Saw it. Enjoyed it. Sound was jacked up for a few minutes netting me a free movie ticket. All is good.![]()

Thor was pretty good, great way to introduce Hawkeye to the series. Now to figure out how they are going to fit the cosmic cube into the Avengers movie.

Check out the latest - name of the movie is changing for some overseas releases citing "anti American sentiment":
http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies....-most-world-ap
LOS ANGELES - Captain America will keep its patriotic full title in most of the world when the superhero adventure hits the big-screen.
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios gave distributors around the world the option of shortening the title of "Captain America: The First Avenger" to simply "The First Avenger," out of concern about anti-American sentiment.
But the only countries that took them up on it were Russia, Ukraine and South Korea.
In other territories, the movie will go out with the full title, a sign that the brand value of the Marvel Comics hero trumps any potential anti-U.S. feelings in some parts of the world.
Movie titles often are changed in foreign countries for cultural reasons or because the original names don't translate well. In French-speaking countries, "The Hangover" and its sequel were titled "Very Bad Trip."
Starring Chris Evans as the patriotic super-soldier, "Captain America" opens in U.S. theaters July 22.

Don't know how long this will be up for, but here is the teaser for The Avengers which will play after the credits of Cap'n.

Saw Captain America last nightI never read the comic before so I couldn't tell you how true it was to original story but it was a hella fun movie. Really left me wanting more so I'm even more stoked for The Avengers!

capt america review....
opening and closing were alright...most of everything in between....meh

Really enjoyed this one. Much better than Thor, IMO. Good action, lots of iconic Cap'n America stuff (throwing his shield, jumping his motorcycle, and even a plausible reason for the goofy uniform). I also liked the tie-in to the rest of The Marvel universe; namely Howard Stark and Stark Enterprises, and Thor and the gods of "Asgard". I feel like this movie did the best job of tying everyone and everything together as a series the way the comics did when I was a kid.
Oh, and the scene after the closing credits is also what like a very complete teaser for The Avengers. Production must already be well under way because there were several scenes with the characters all together.

movie was good, the avengers trailer looks good. is'nt the hulk supposed to be in this too?

Made the mistake of drinking a huge smoothie before the movie. Had to pee so bad that I couldn't stay thru the credits.
Care to give a recap of what happened? Know of a site that has a clip of it?
Capt. America was great fun imo. All of my comic book remembrances were addressed in the movie! Even down to the iconic scene of the Red Skull gripping the cosmic cube! And every time Cap thru his shield I had the old Capt. American song playing in my brain!"When Capt. America throws his mighty shield"!

Don't know who's hosting the teaser, but here's a quick recap:
Lots of quick cut action scenes with each of the Avengers doing their thing (except for the Hulk, though we do get a quick glimpse of Mark Ruffalo as Banner); Hawkeye shooting an arrow, Iron Man in what I think was the red and silver suit (though it was so quick I can't be sure), Thor flying, etc... Loki is in a scene, so I presume he will be the main villain as foreshadowed at the end of Thor. At the end, they're all sitting around in some kind of conference (Cap is in full-blown red white and blue - no black leather interpretation), and Tony Stark walks past Thor, gives him a pat on the shoulder and says in his sardonic manner, "Nice swing arm.". That's when we see Thor flying in anger.
Quick question... Howard Stark mentioned that Cap's shield was made of "vibranium"? I thought it was adamantium, like every other hard metal in the Marvel Universe.
Oh, and they showed the trailer for the Spiderman reboot. WHY????? The 1st and 2nd Toby McGuire movies still stand on their own, IMO. We just won't talk about the 3rd one.![]()

Thanks.
Vibranium is correct. Cap's shield as well as a few other Marvel universe artifacts are made from Vibranium. Adamantium is another Marvel metal which is near indestructible (taken from mythology). Vibranium absorbs vibrations (concussive force) which renders it bullet/projectile proof and resistant to some energy weapons. Adamantium is the stronger of the two. I thought the spiderman reboot looked good, its seem it will be a little on the darker side.
the superman reboot is supposedly going in that same direction too.
we'll see. I have my doubts about the superman reboot.

Honestly, how much darker could Spiderman get without totally changing the character? Sam Raimi has a reputation for doing some pretty dark stuff. The only difference I see in the new one is replacing MJ for GS, and what appeared to be mechanical web shooters. Meh... This is the first time a reboot annoys me.
I trust Chris Nolan to find the right tone for Superman. I don't think it will be The Dark Knight with red and blue suit.? At least I hope it's not.

Considering how little involvement Chris Nolan will actually have in the creative process and that Zack Snyder is directing, I wouldn't worry yourself about that one.
I think Captain America is the best of the Marvel heroes movies since the first Iron Man. Just very entertaining.

My biggest issue is that the new Spider Man franchise isn't even ten years old yet and it's getting "rebooted" - the last movie came out in 2007 for crying out loud. Just like with Superman, just make the next one - you can pretend the other one doesn't exist if you have to (think Jurassic Park), but just keep going with it.
It's like I said in the Spider Man thread, just make another one, change the characters if you have to, but just keep going with it. The other thing that drives me nuts with these things is that they feel compelled to tell the origin story AGAIN in the reboot. If you have no idea who Peter Parker is, who Spider Man is, who Thor is, who Captain America is, etc. - go read a comic book. Don't waste half the movie retelling the freaking origin .

Skipped Thor and the Hulk reboot (will rent).
Headed to Capt. America this afternoon though, looks excellent.

Just got back from seeing it. It was great.
Stay after the credits. There is a preview for The Avengers movie.
