trying to decide on IWB or OWB since Alaska has very loose carry laws. I kinda like IWB as it may be unnerving to see a sidearm at the grocery store (I dunno, maybe it's normal), but I imagine OWB is more comfortable. And if I'm outdoors camping or fishing I'd probably prefer OWB

If you get a simple, low-profile OWB kydex it would tuck under most shirts/jackets etc. I think it would suit your needs. I've debated keeping my Level 2 OWB...because it's modular to fit any belt and would be better for serious out-doors stuff (if you ever ride horses, or motorcycles etc.).

I'm a bit torn. I think for you though, a low profile OWB would be perfect. Something like this:

^Close to the body, can be mostly covered by a t-shirt or jacket. Not overt and scary to most people. Depends on what the gun culture up there is like. It's only Level 1 retention so I don't think I'd wear it openly in crowds etc. You can always get a couple holsters.

I'll likely end up with a couple, but I'll probably just wait until I get up there. I don't think most places could get one to me before I leave anyway.

Variant 7? Looks identical to mine. I really wish I had done a bit more research and got the variant 1. I love the feel of the gun, but hate the trigger pull on the double action only models.

You have a true variant 7? From what I understand, those are fairly rare. I'd assume it's simply an LEM.

Conversion to a variant 1 is very easy. I converted my USPc .45 from an LEM to a traditional V1 in about 20 minutes with no prior experience.

It's a LEM conversion. Long but extremely light trigger pull.

Bought the missus her first rifle for her birthday, Savage Mark II model G. Slapped a cheap scope on it that I had laying around until I can afford some decent glass.

yes 15" rail on a 16" barrel. I never weighed the rail itself before installing it and dont have an accurate measure of weight but the whole rifle weights approx 8lbs with an unloaded mag but with all accessories (aimpoint, buis, light, sling, etc) on it...taken ghetto style from a bathroom scale subtracting my weight from me carrying it to without it. This is the Geiselle rail with the new aluminum barrel nut, not the original steel barrel nut.

Hey guys, looking for an OWB holster for my HK P30. Will be open carry so need some retention to it. Anyone have any recommendations for a holster that they like?

I bought a Browning 725 Trap this past weekend. It should be arriving in about a week.

I have been shooting trap every week for the past 5 months and decided it was time to upgrade my shotgun.

I believe mine to be a true variant 7 compact. The trigger pull is ridiculously stiff. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the parts to do the conversion? Did you get them direct from HK?

Interesting - if it's a consistent, very heavy pull, every time, I'd guess you're right too. The rarity of the V7 is just something I'd read a few times on HKPro, so I could be way off there.

I also found my parts on HKPro. It was pretty much a right time, right place kind of thing - saw a classified ad for a bunch of V1 parts (seller had converted a few guns to the LEM). Another guy swooped in, but didn't need one of the compact sets so I got it from him for something like 30 bucks. IIRC, HK wants a small fortune to do the service (not sure if they sell the parts alone direct). You can find all of the individual bits (control lever, slide plate, sear, hammer, etc) at HKParts.net, but they're in the ballpark of $175 for everything. Which is a bit silly - the LEM kit is only $80.

Your best bet is to either search or post a WTB thread for someone who did an LEM conversion.

Was in the local store and browsing what little ammo was left and saw a PX4 in 9mm. Fits like a glove like the M&P and is available in one of the household's handgun calibers (9mm/.45); been reading through the reviews and it seems to repeat the same talking point or are from when they first came out. Anyone have firsthand experience or long-term experience with one?
