A couple more photos of my .45
It's a little dusty, I had just unholstered it when I took the photos. They're not the best quality, since I took them with my iPhone.

wRek, is that your carry gun? I thought you had a stainless Colt?
Who did the build on that? I would really like to have a Caspian build done at some point. Is that a caspian frame too or is that magwell a Heine or Legacy Custom?
      How's it shoot?

I used to carry my stainless Colt, now I am carrying the Caspian. It is a Caspian frame and slide, schuemann ultimatch barrel, les baer custom sights... I will try and take some pictures with my wife's camera some time soon that fully details the gun. It was built by a guy from my work. Same guy who built my officers, commander, and government length stainless guns I had. I've only put a couple rounds through it so far. I'm going tomorrow to put a couple hundred through it... I'll post up some pictures when I get home.
This was my old carry gun when I had ivory grips on it.

Are you running an AAC 1000 or 2000? I have a 2000 Mod08 and it has the 51 tooth connection.

Cheap-o 1000. Its all they had at the shop, im not sure which mod it is. I think its 6 or 7 it has the rounded donut shaped top- I kinda wish I had picked up the 2k but this one does the job for me.
Nice and quiet with this stuff.

Nice. Not a bad connection to have. I like the blued finish.
      Did you keep the Colt?

Very interesting thread. I've been slowly getting into building up a gun collection. The one firearm I'd love to build is a AR-15 carbine.
I assume some of you guys are either active military or former based on the type or weapons and some of the bolt on goodies such as silencers. It was my understanding silencers of any shape, size, or function are illegal to own unless you have a Class 3 license.

Will the rifle cycle with that ammo? I have been contemplating buying some of it.

I am not active military or nor have I ever been in the military. Owning firearms is one of the great things that we get to do in America, plus I am a mechanical engineer and firearms fascinate me.
You are wrong about having to have a class 3 license to own suppressors, SBR's, or Machine guns. All you need to do is fill out some paperwork or set up a Trust or LLC. I am up to 8 tax stamps and I do not think it will ever stop.

If you are seriously interested in purchasing a NFA firearm (Suppressor, SBR, MG) let me know and we can talk about the details. It is a simple process, but just takes forever.

Even if you don't want to go the NFA route, feel free to post up here with questions about what it takes to make an AR-15, as most of us have been involved in at least one build...

I'm Active Duty AF so I fit the stereotype. It's easy to get that marksman ribbon when you own a mil-spec AR. But since the AR is "Barbie for Men" it just makes sense to own one.
I've been wanting to get a suppressor for my AR ever since I bought it. Unless Russian paratroopers are dropping in and people are shouting "WOLVERINES" from the hills I'm not going to use it indoors for self defense unless I want to have even worse hearing than I do now. If I had a suppressor it would be just fine. I'd almost rather make it an SBR first, though.

BTW- I didn't know the USAF had a marksman ribbon. I thought it was just the Navy and USCG with actual ribbons.

yeah, I think they've always had it. It's a pretty easy course to qualify on:

^^^I stress that this isn't my target, lol. Shooting a 34 is fuggin' shameful. I'm pissed I didn't hit a perfect 50 (50 hits out of 50 fired) but instead made 46. The instructor would've cleaned my gun if I'd shot a perfect.

H&K sued GSG, something about copyright infringement. Last I heard, GSG was ordered to no longer make the GSG-5 and the only way to pick one up now is from current available stock. I checked out some of the typical online sights and still see that they're being listed similar to what they were being listed at before the lawsuit. This year (at least the first 6 months) is going to be the time to pick one up if you wish to pay a somewhat reasonable price for these rifles.
