Thread: Show Off Your Road Cycle

  1. 09-01-2008 06:49 PM #1
I did some digging in here and didn't find a road bike thread.
    Show'em off!

I just started cycling this month and I'm very pleased with the routes here in Las Vegas. Not to shabby, Red Rock and Lake Mead Loops are killers, but well worth it!

i race in europe......... it is older but rides very well...... [IMG][IMG]

Check the webbing between the crankarm and where it meets the spider for cracks. My 7401 crankset failed there.

  4. 09-04-2008 07:27 PM #4
hey feint, nice bike...like the white theme...white side wall tires would complete the theme...

i'll be in vegas week of 9/8...is there any bike store along the strip or walking distance from it?

  5. 09-04-2008 07:53 PM #5
Damn man, sadly NO. But There is an upper tier bike shop on Flamingo & Fort Apache (quite a distance from the strip) called McGhies ... the shop is stellar and that's where I got my bike. These guys have their own little group rides on Tuesday/Thursday Mornings up and through Red Rock (30+mile) ride in the wee mornings. Check'em out!

I'll definitely look into white wall tires! I've got a white/black/red/grey theme going with all of my gear, I think those white walls WILL complete... me. lol

You want whitewalls? I'll give you whitewalls!

I normally ride the all black Vittoria Open Corsa CXs, but this is what our sponsor sent me, so....
Oh, and ignore the non-D/A chainrings...the old ones were waaaay worn out and this is what I had on hand...I hate the way it looks.

... you're not a hipster. But you definitely have hipster tendencies. Stay vigilant... like diabetes, you can manage this.

Ignore the garbage Speedplay pedals, they have been swapped out. I love this bike

  9. 09-05-2008 11:11 AM #9
I'll continue the red white and black with my 2 week old Bianchi.

To the OP, I have a buddy with the black version of the 1.2

Damn, I've always had a crush on Bianchis... I might build one after I get more seat time on my Trek.

The black 1.2 was nice, but I was just so aesthetically satisfied with the White/Red scheme.

My buddy who owns the shop's new bike... Well, he can't decide between this and an Orbea. This thing is the new tarmac pro, pearl white, and weighs 14.5lbs.... It's sick!!

This is my rig.... I like it. Would like a new wheelset though.

Nice, I like the blue tires.
Judging by the looks of everyone's bike.. I think that it's safe to say that I'm the shortest rider. ha!

there are DEFINITELY some great bikes in here. And I think I remember a few of the guys being like 5' 3" or 5' 4" and riding some small frames sizes. Not sure though.

and it's actually pretty reasonable considering how much you are getting for your $. Although still a serious chunk of loot.

    Nice CX bike

I've been to at least 3 LBS's looking for one of those center stands, and they all give me a look. I guess I'll have to order online.

Well I'm 5'8ish and sporting the 54cm... I can barely fit a water bottle on the seat tube holder. lol

But all in all... Nice damn bikes guys! Can't wait to get more experience in the field upgrade parts on mine or start my own build.

hopefully getting an '04 Allez Pro frame this weekend from a BPG/MontanoVelo rider.

BPG is a medical marijuana 'club' in berzerkely so their logo on the frame has a little marijuana leaf on it. interesting

I bought mine from http://www.klunkcycles.com/ in Columbia, MO for $10-12 (IIRC); I believe he gets them from QBP.

He got the frame for $1500 and built it up using the Dura Ace he had on his previous bike. $1500 for that frame seems pretty dang good to me.

What thingies? You mean the red part, the center hub? Fusee Star wheels from Roval.

This is the 1989 Brava I bought last year. It's a good ride. I have some eyes on much bling-er bikes right now though...(something finally snapped in my mind and enabled breaking of the 4-digit barrier on a bike )

New Look 555. Yeah, it's the same one I asked about in a different thread. Thanks to you guys, I was able to get it at a much more reasonable price. I'm not crazy about the red tires and handlebar tape, as my old bike and most of my gear is in blue. When they wear out, I'll probably replace them with standard black items.

It rides really nicely compared to the Giant OCR 3 it replaces.

I think that it ties everything together quite nicely If red was one of the main colors, then yes, it would be too much. But the way that it brings out the little bit of red in the first "5" makes it work in my eyes.

I disagree, I think black tape and tires with red cable housing would be the perfect amount of red... oh and one of those new flite saddles or the toupe saddle that's mostly black with a touch of red.
