I did some digging in here and didn't find a road bike thread.
      Show'em off!

There's actually been quite a few of these threads. But I'm always thrilled to post pictures again.

      Damn that Colnago is gorgeous.
What's the weight on your pedalforce? How's the ride? I was thinking of building a pedalforce bike in the not to distant future...

Beautiful bike! My cousin has the same bike, same color I think too. Those original Kleins were quality.

Sorry to nit-pick, but that is not an "original" Klein. You'd have to go back about 10 model years to get one of those. That looks like a Waterloo, WI made Klein (Trek factory). Not that that takes away from that bike; I agree, it's beautiful!
I worked for years in a shop that sold Klein bikes since Klein's inception, and there seems to be a distinction between an "original" Klein and a "real" Klein. An original Klein is anything pre-1995. This is when Gary Klein owned the company and had a heavy hand in all aspects of production. In 1995 Klein was purchased by Trek, but production continued in the Klein factory in Washington. Good thing for Gary Klein, because it seems he had more passion than business sense. A Klein from 1995-2002 is considered a "real" Klein, but not an
"original". In '02 Trek moved the Klein factory from Washington to their Waterloo, Wisconsin factory, where Trek is headquartered.
Since 1995, there were some subtle, but mass production-friendly changes to the lineup (Trek introduced the concept of profit to Klein). The early "original" bikes had press-fit bottom brackets and integrated headsets. Some say the "original" bikes' Gradient Tubing was even thinner and had a more gradual taper to their butting. A pre-1995 Klein Pulse, for example, had a full Gradient tubeset, press-fit BB, and internal-run brake and gear cables and smoothed welds. A post-1995 Pulse had raw welds, traditional BB and external cable routing. The only things that distinguished it as a Klein were its rear facing dropouts, Gradient Tubing decal (not "real" Gradient Tuning, and only in the main triangle), and the nice paint job.
OK, that's enough of that. If you actually read that, good for you Yes, I've owned a few Klein bikes. I'll say this though: A Klein, real, original, or otherwise, is really the only aluminum bike that gives me that tingly feeling.

..... A Klein from 1995-2002 is considered a "real" Klein, ......press-fit BB, and internal-run brake and gear cables and smoothed welds. .........

I have one of those "real" Kleins. It's at 1996(?) Pulse II MTB which to this day is still the best climbing mountain bike I've ever ridden.
I was recently amused to find that Cannondale's new BB30 bottom bracket standard is very much mimics what Klein did over a decade ago. Unfortunately for me, the bottom bracket shell on my Klein is too small to convert the Klein square taper axle to Cannondales new standard.
I wanted to refurbish this frameset but was saddened by the lack of decent quality lightweight XC cranksets that are comparable to the quality of this frame so it sat in storage while I considered selling it. There was never a lack of interested buyer for old Klein frames on eBay.
HOWEVER--while browsing Phil Wood's website, I discovered some hope. Phil Wood recently started making stainless Steel steel outboard bottom bracket cups to fit older Klein framesets. Anyone with an older Klein frame can now take advantage of some of the newer style lightweight cranks that are available.
      Phil Wood Part number
BBCGI Press Fit 35mm I.D. Shells - Stainless Steel 99.00
True gradient tubing is very beautiful. To the dismay of some materials engineers, Klein sometimes referred to his proprietary tubing as 9000 series aluminum.

Thanks, I had fun building three of them! The groupbuy last spring brought together a handful of people from the area. So we had a build party! So we setup shop on my backyard porch and had a few beers along the way!
Since I was the only one with any build experience, I ended building all three of them. It was a nice opportunity to build a bike for the first time with SRAM Force and Red.

it was done the following week. i went home to the bike shop i used to work at in idaho and picked up the fame anda bunch of the parts for it. went to another shop picked up the wheels and shifters. took it all back to the first shop and borrowed a tool stand. as soon as the parts were together i went and rode the local weekly time trial, rode about 40 miles the following day and brought the bike home.
