Someone do us all a favor and flush this series down the toilet where it belongs.

Cool and another random story line.. sookie and the contract.

Bad choice. The books are nothing like this. 1 million times better (though I havent read the latest one yet). I bet Charlaine Harris is kicking herself for giving so much creative license to Ball. He's done a piss poor job of adapting this for the series... I'd say 1st/2nd season were about an 8/10 as far as being close to the books... from then on, the only similarities are the character names.
They needed someone to tell them the contract was written in fairy? Really??![]()

I'm 4 or 5 eps into season 5... what a mess (and season 4 was no gem).
Folks, if you like the basic premises, but are tiring of Allan Ball's interpretations, please do yourself a favor and read the books, they are 100X better.... seriously.

Last night was another cluster F.
I wish a black hole would open up and swallow Edgington and Tara. Its not suprising that these two characters were basically all of Ball's doing...they're horrible.
The Fae on this show suck. The stupid costumes, dancing...ugh... its soooo terrible they way he's portraying them. ...and also they're WEAK! Which should not be. The Fae in the book are straight up badasses.
Anyways... one more left. Im going to go out on a limb and say that Warlow somehow interferes with or kills Edgington to save Sookie for himself. Im really not sure how they can salvage this disaster for another season.

I never read the books, so coming in without bias I liked the show up until Tara was turned. Then I thought it jumped the shark. Though, ironically, Tara being a vampire appears to suit Rutina Wesley better - she can be more badass and it not conflict with the character's personality. Tara the human was infinitely more annoying.
And then, if a show can jump the shark TWICE in one season, True Blood most assuredly did when Bill became an evangelista. Now, its almost comical. And they definitely gave it away too early, even with one episode to go, that everyone in the Authority (save for Eric and Nora) are seeing Lilith choosing them. Now it is obvious the Authority is going to kill each other - who is left standing remains to be seen.
I was also a bit disappointed with the elder Fae. All her supposed powers and Russell dispatches her THAT quickly?
The show is still mildly entertaining, but now only serves as my Monday night filler until the USA shows kick in on Tuesday. With Transporter and Strike Back on Cinemax, and House of Lies, Shameless and Homeland on Showtime...HBO is loosing out, IMO.

They've really ruined the Were storyline particularly as it relates to the pack, pack politics, and pack leader succession.
No Quinn? Really?
Tara should have died in season 1, but I actually do like her better as a vamp then as the mess she's been up until this point. Partially because it gives us more excuses for Pam-time.
The whole Lilith storyline, blech.
Fae storyline, completely ruined.
Ball has done some good stuff, Lafayette is a great character who died early in the books. Jessica is a great character who didn't even exist in the books (iirc, it's been a few years).
Time to read the books again.

If that's confirmed, then I am happy.

Jason seeing his parents? WTF? Apparently every single character has to be some kind of "Supe."
Alcid's storyline was practically the only one actually 'wrapped up', but it felt rushed in doing so.
Shifter exploding a vampire's head was pretty cool.
Billith!? WTF!?
Leaving soooooo many of the storylines unresolved just means they're going to have to mop them up next season, which means we're not going to get a clean fresh start after this train wreck. It's not looking good.

Aw, c'mon! That was one of the best episodes in years! If they can keep up the pace next season like this season finale, we'll have a great season!

It should have ended with Bills dying a miserable death. Ball needs to grow some balls.
I agree Alcide's storyline was rushed. The **** going on with Bellfleur is totally unneeded. ...and yeah, Jason seeing his parents now... ugh
I hold out zero hope for next year

Multiple shark jumps in one episode!!! Possibly the most in cable history, not to mention TV.
For such a talented production team, HBO is screwing the pooch.
Showtime is trumping them, and even their oft-nude sister Cinemax is upping the ante with proper action like Strike Back and the forth coming Transporter.
We need more Wire, more Sopranos, less gory Twilight.
For a bit there, I thought Bill was actually in on the plan to take down The Authority. It made sense; capitalizing on everyone else seeing Lilith. And I even thought it when he convinced Salome she was the chosen one. At the end, I thought they were all going to walk in to his chambers and see Salome dead. That would have tied off the story arc nicely...and if they wanted to give you a proper cliff hanger, they would have just showed Bill changing later one, alone.
And yes, the Bellfleur/Fae story line just seemed pointless. I honestly do not see the connection with ANYTHING else going on.

Couldnt agree more. Lets hope they redeem themselves with Boardwalk Empire in a couple weeks. ...but yes, lately Showtime, Skinamax, AMC... even FX have been producing series with more critical acclaim.

I agree, put it down like the sick animal it is. I understand that the show was "based" on the books but wtf, they have gone so far off the story line from the books its not even funny.. My wife watches the show but didnt take the time to read the whole set of books. She asked me at the beginning of the season if tara was a vampire in the books.. negatory.. The only part in the tv show i can see relating to the books is that some of the same characters are there. I agree about the Quinn bit, that was a big part of the story line.

While I haven't read the books, from what everyone here is saying, they could have saved it by:
1) Not having the Bellfleur/Fae storyline. It was stupid anyway.
2) Having either the elder Fae, or the group of Faes, or both, beat Russell - as apparently the Faes are badass in the books.
3) Having Bill NOT become Lilith, and kill the rest of The Authority, or at a minimum, have the rest of the characters believe he had done that, while holding onto Lilith's blood for later.
4) There wasn't much wrong with Alcid's story arc, other than it wrapped up far too quickly.
Yes? No?
#1355
I haven't posted in this thread much, but as with most others I've felt this season was lacking. I do however think they can bring it back for the next season and make it very good. We have a lot of story arcs that could, in theory, tie together very nicely.
1. Bill - Bill's obviously the new supreme badass. Fine, whatever. I can live with that if they do it right (though that'll be hard).
2. Eric, Pam, Sookie, Tera, etc - They're effectively the new authority. Russell is dead, Bill is the enemy, and this team is out to stop them. It would set up a vampire civil war.
3. The government - they touched on this late last season. It could turn into a mexican standoff situation of us vs. them vs. them.
4. Alcid - with the wolfpack his I really have no idea where this would go. Obviously they'd be involved somehow with the vampire civil war and most likely on the side of Northman/Sookie.
5. Bellfleur - WTF?
6. Warlow - most likely on the side of Bill, but I'm not sure how he'd come into the picture exactly?
That I think could be a fun, bloody, and suspenseful season with twists and turns.

The packmaster competition in the books was awesome. As was Alcide's Dad's role. ..also, Quinn is introduced through Alcides story... so now I doubt we'll see that.
Here's something else the show is missing... (spoiler)

Sam... Sam *can be* a badass in the books. Shapeshiftes can morph into some crazy badass animals... one in particular, he is the book... but has NEVER been in the show. Lame. They portray shifters as reallly soft on the show.
