I had before a 20th first with a spec stage 1 and then stage 2 with 9lb flywheel. Boy the sound of the chatter would drive me crazy.

I had also a mkv 07 but sold it as well, in that one I didnt change the clutch or fw.

The upgrades on the gli would be stage 2 ecu upgrade, intake, dv,tbe and intercooler and it will be a daily driver.

So my question is I want to still have a little bit of performance with a lightweight flywheel but definitely not the chatter of a 9lb.

What kit would you recommend? 16-20lb? What are the benefits on each?

    Stage 1+ $769.95
    http://fourseasontuning.com/?product=685

Or a Stage 2 $934.95 (same disc as the 1+ the difference is the pressure plate is has been modified and have larger rivits)
    http://fourseasontuning.com/?product=567

The 20 pound flywheel seems a little quieter than the 16.5. Still has the benefits of improved throttle response.

I'll be keeping my 337 stock and it's time for a clutch. What's the best package for me with the replacement single mass fly wheel? Thanks in advance.

i just put in a light weight single mass flywheel and clutch(stage 1 for my 6 speed) along with a diff all bought from ecs and all im having is problems, they will not help me solve it and say its all normal hers my problem
coming out of 1st gear my car and wheels shake so hard it feels like im going to snap a shaft its so bad and not drivable at all, after u finally get going the car shifts great, its just on take off now i dont want to deal with them no more cause they are just blowing me off and this is after me spending easy 5 or 6 thousand over the last 2 years. my question is my car is a 337 gti with a 6 speed can i use my stock dual mass flywheel with the new clutch cause i was told its the lw flywheel is the problem and that if i go back to the stock dual the new clutch will fit no problem, or do i have to buy another flywheel but not light weight and put the new clutch it that. I do love the way it shifts with the single mass but at this point i just want to get it done any thoughts

What kit did you buy? In most cases, if you are going to convert the flywheel to a dual mass you must change the disc as well to compensate for the shape of the DM Flywheel.

Well it seems as if you got a really light weight flywheel with a non sprung hub disc, in which your case its really annoying to engage. Daily Driving on a light weight flywheel is really difficult because you have to rev it much higher just so the clutch could catch, the disc by not being sprung hub it doesn't give you that slight cushion so it could be a smoother engagement. There is not much you could do in your case at this point. Unless you want to replace the whole system. You can use that pressure plate on a dual mass flywheel, but not sure if clutch masters makes that disc with the proper clearances to clear the dual mass flywheel.

let me ask u a question im having problems with ecs now they say cause i used the clutch kit (mind u for only 120 kilometers) which was 2 days of driving in and around my house, then it got to bad so i took the kit out, they say they will not refund me, now how would someone know if the part is defective if they dont try it 1st, does this make any sense ???? what would ur company do about this problem and if u can pls. tell me what i can do in ur experience.

Would it be possible to list what each stage can support?

    Horsepower & torque range

Or break it down by types of mods

Also, like the jewel of info that the lighter flywheels provide more chatter and are much less like the stock feel, what about the types of clutch discs and there recommended use.

What is good for DD or primarily track use.

    Thanks

I am currently doing an APR stg3+ kit on my 1.8t. This kit will produce 340 HP at the flywheel. I will be needing to upgrade the clutch and flywheel. can you recomend a clutch kit for street use only? Thanks in advance

On Friday of last weekend I sent James at Four Seasons a pm with some questions about a flywheel combo.

Saturday mid day I got a response with the answers I needed..

Saturday night I got word that I had accesses to a shop to do the slave cylinder, clutch, and flywheel, but only tomorrow. Now I was in a bind, no flywheel.

I sent a message to James asking if he could get me a flywheel on a Sunday. Knowing full well they were closed and off the clock. Still I had no other options.

Sunday morning I towed the car to the shop. We started working on removing the tranny when James called. He was not at work but was willing to get me a flywheel and meet up on his day off. On his own time he met up with some friends of mine willing to drive to get the parts while the tranny was being pulled.

Long story short, great service going the extra mile when he didn't have to. Thumbs up for four seasons tuning.
