Thread: Group B Audi quattro driven by Frank Sprongl on a Charity Slalom, more like drifting.....

  1. 09-26-2008 09:02 AM #1
    Good Morning,

After the 2008 Targa Newfoundland event, we took the Audi A2 Quattro to the Charity Autocross.

If you were not able to see it in person, Frank was showing off a little bit of the power that the Audi has, all for a good cause.
All the rides were paid for by generous spectators helping The Children’s Wish foundation.

The Audi Quattro was by far the crowd favourite, this video may tell you why.

Enjoy the video and feel free to check out our website for more updates and Targa Newfoundland photos.

While watching this video, notice the launch out of the start box, that was a full redline 8250 RPM clutch drop.

The passenger in the car was the son of the ownwer of the Bill Mathews' Audi dealership in St. Johns, NL.
The crew at the Bill Mathews dealership were awesome to deal while we were at the event.

Thank you to all of our sponsors that made this event possible.

    Audi Canada
    Sirius
    Pirelli Tire Canada
    Castrol Canada
Ontario Competition Fuels, makers of Pro Mark racing fuels
    Four Star Motorsports Inc

Thank you for the help from

Bill Mathews Audi, use of the facility prior to the event
Ross Wood from Linwood Logistics for the use of his enclosed trailer.

    Thank You

    Dan Sprongl

Looks like you tagged a couple cones in the Auto-x. That's gotta wreak havoc on your time. Gotta be more careful next time.

Nice video. Nice photos. Wonderful event.

    Hah, fun video.

You guys did a great job on the cage in the Scirocco i acquired, it literally saved the car (and obviously, the driver).

Now that the FIA has let the group B cars into historic racing these are unobtainium. Wat was 60-90 thousand three or four years ago is going on 250,000 or much more.

To the OP thanks for the post. It got me looking at other group B goodness on Youtube which lead to some EURO rallycross which I originally watched late at night on french cable tv in 1990. So much goodness with lots of crashes for the crowd.
