I actually want to pull the GLI a hair, so I want to use a roller. All three vehicles need it done. The Coupe is in extreme need for it.

I don't think skippy has an eastwood, I know he fabbed something up for his rabbit, and we used it on my mk1 jetta when I put my equips on.
Was just a PVC pipe wrapped in tape.
I am sure that kid has connections though, so ignore my posting.

So I come inside from finishing up the shift boot and saw that someone had posted a link showing how to do what I just did...
http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?4176712
Getting the DSG knob off can be tricky, but it's not as bad as people say it is.
I was the idiot who clicked the shifter after it was disengaged, which in turns lock the clicker into place.
To get the manual shifter bezel to clear the DSG shifter housing, some trimming is required.
This is what the unaltered bezel looks like with the shift boot removed:
** You don't want to trim as far up as that gif shows because you will lose the locking point for the lower clips on the shift boot.
Just used a Dremel with a cutting wheel to cut from tab to tab on the lower portion of the bezel:
After that, I did a test fit but it still wasn't enough to clear the shifter housing.
I went back inside and trimmed a big chunk off the lower right side of the shifter bezel and it fit perfectly.
