I've already spent way too much on another hunk of Titanium this month...

It's probably an invitation for trouble, but I'll ask anyway:
Is a new Canon 7D body, grey marketer source, a good deal at under $1500 delivered or is it better to look at the used market?

    Thanks.

depends if you're willing to take the risk of a challenging warranty claim if required. I've never had issues until now, but being able to walk into JB and swap my 7D on the weekend was worth the extra $$ in my opinion (but then, I'm impatient!)

I dont think it is, consider how long it would take for a warranty claim through what ever country it originated from. Then consider what could happen to it between getting to Canon or back to you. Compare all of that to how smoothly Mick got a replacement body.

I bargained hard to get my Nikon D700 to be within $400 off Hong Kong street prices.
At that discrepancy it makes the Aussie warranty factor more compelling to buy here than OS.

FYI, google Roland Lim + Hong Kong street prices for updates street prices of Canon and Nikon equipment.

I think I'm pretty happy with the sharpness of my new 70-200/2.8 II.....

    100% crop....

and are the colors screwed in Firefox for anyone else? I think I've cocked up the color management on my PC.

Planning to grab one in the next week or 2 before OS trip. Where'd you get it and how much?

Any other thoughts on the new baby??

Micky sent me to Digital Camera Warehouse, a steal at $509' the rep is $599. I was lucky, I managed to get the last one in stock.

Have been playing with it all night, it is spectacular for a point and shoot!

I've bought glass and my D90 body from DCW Sydney. That was going to be one of the first places I look. And I'll get cash back from TRF on departure too.. Woot.

Be sure to post some samples... And congrats.

do you know what the diff is with it and the S90? S90 has been a great camera, so glad I got it. I take it nearly everywhere.

I know there is no perfect camera, but for me the S90 is close enough, gives all the control I need. Easy to take motorcycle riding, cycling, bushwalking etc.

0.8/80%, so very very slightly. I hate oversharpening.

S95 adds Canon hybrid IS (google it), 720p HD video (and stereo audio recording), fixes the free-wheeling control dial on the rear, adds some aspect ratio choices, scene modes, in camera HDR and tilt-shift "miniature" mode... It's not a revolution, more evolution.

Stunning lens. Makes me want the Nikkor equivalent.

Still waiting for my little brown box to be delivered.

Don't know what's in it yet. No spoilers...

One of the failings of the little GF1 is that the body is too smooth when your hands are moist. I haven't dropped it yet, and less likely to now with this leatherette skin.

Covers up a few of the many decals on the body too...

Most camera guys with a manual lens and SLR history know this trick.
Usually works with just a single Len reversed.

Is that the same as pulling back your foreskin?

Any tips for a decent P&S around the $250-350 mark. My brief is it should be compact in size and easy to use.

Am currently leaning towards a Canon IXUS 130 IS or maybe a Panasonic DMC-FH20.

Not much between them. Lens I'd give to the Panasonic, but the rest looks like a wash.

Put them in your hand (or the eventual recipients) and see how they get on with the control layout. This is more important than the marginal differences between the actual cameras.

Can't suggest anything better for the money either. You get a lot of megapixels for a couple of hundred bucks these days don't you?

Yeah, too many for the size of sensors used IMO, but I'm not the head of marketing.

Nodding. Grabbed one today from Teds. Made them price match DCW.

sick little bit of kit, I take my s90 everywhere. Bought a little neoprene cover for it too.

one of the more intelligent purchases I have ever made.
