Totally agreed... she is stunning. The red hair and hair style are perfect. She'd be hot regardless, but that little extra bit makes her 10x hotter. The eyepatch was totally working for me too

It looked to me that for the last episode they changed her makeup so her skin was paler than usual.

they definitley had a different makeup scheme on her for the eyepatch scenes, still, her skin, features, hair... damn.. it's all working.

Now it's going to be a long haul - only half a season in 2012 and half in 2013. For such a popular series, you'd think BBC could scrape up the money to make it.

    Agreed...on all counts.

you guys should also check out Luther if you havent already...its only a 4 episode second season..

Kinda weak, actually. Trees, mother nature, meh. Still smacks of BBC budget constraints.

And only a brief cameo by Karen Gillan.

Can't wait for the series to start back up again.

She's cute and they look good together, I hope she's decent in the show.

    I loved Amy

The new companion is cute, but Karen Gillan (and her red hair) was gorgeous.

Awesome trailer! I can't wait for the new season.

...and as beautiful as Karen Gillan is, I'm happy that (as I call it) the "Amy & Rory Show" is coming to an end and Doctor Who is ramping up to it's former glory.

Don't get me wrong... I totally enjoyed all of the Amy Pond era episodes, but SO MUCH focus was on Amy Pond.... hell, even the intro to the show has her narration about her history with the Doctor... that does bug me.

I agred somewhat, Love Amy, but the focus has been very focused on the Companion (and her Companion) lately and I welcome a refocus on the Doctor himself.

It's kind of like when they spent too much time on Mickey, Rose's BF.

Then again, Rory has been WAY better then Mickey.

It's a tough line to walk, I trust in Moffett.

Speaking of companions moving on.... did any of you hear that Romana1 (actress Mary Tamm) passed away last month?

Link > Doctor Who Legend Mary Tamm Passes Away - BBC

Romana was a great character from the 4th Doctor era (Tom Baker years). She was a Time Lord and regenerated from Romana1 to Romana2. I remember her from when I discovered Doctor Who as a kid watching the show on the Chicago local PBS channel back in the early '80s.

RIP Romana... I hope you have regenerated to a great place.

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Doctor Who legend Mary Tamm who played the Time Lord Romana alongside the Fourth Doctor.

"She was a darling companion and wonderfully witty and kind," said Tom Baker, "I'm so sorry to hear of her death."

Mary died in hospital at the age of 62 following a hard -fought battle against cancer. Also appearing in titles including The Odessa File, The Likely Lads, Jonathan Creek, EastEnders and Brookside, Mary held the heart of the nation and will never be forgotten.

"She played stage parts of such range, parts that would take your breath away. She could play any role, and do so wonderfully," commented Barry Langford, Mary’s agent for 22 years.

Here we remember her in a gallery as all Doctor Who fans will remember her, as the first incarnation of Romana the Time Lord. On hearing the sad news Steven Moffat reminisced…

“I remember Mary Tamm's first appearance so vividly - the ice Queen on the TARDIS. The Time Lady who thought the Doctor was HER companion. Perfectly brought to life by Mary, with such style and wit, you always thought she could have kicked the Doctor out of the time machine and got on with the adventure herself. A generation of little girls threw away the idea of being an assistant, and decided to fly the TARDIS for themselves.”
    .

    Romana2 (actress Lalla Ward)

Rose Tyler reminds me of Romana2

True... and I agree, Moffat is one hell of a writer!

It's interesting when you compare Mickey and Rory... they both were kind of insecure and dominated by their love interests (Rose & Amy), but in the end, they both grew into strong warriors so to speak. Mickey was supposed to join Torchwood, but Noel Clarke (the actor who played Mickey) wanted to pursue other acting projects.

...Agreed. The Doctor seemed to be an afterthought in some of the episodes.. too many of the episodes.

    The Women of Doctor Who
The Timey-Wimey Stuff of Doctor Who

So proud to have done this. Huge thanks to Edward Russell for his brilliant guidance - and nipping down to the Cardiff basement to photograph the Special Weapons Dalek when we ran short of pictures. We like to think that the SW Dalek has been trundling around various BBC corridors since 1963. Photoshop users may like to know the final file was over a thousand layers, and 4.9gig in size. Phew!
