Yea... pretty badarse sounding huh. Yea... Eastside Motorsports is in the process of completing its Mk3 Jetta Coupe project with the choice of driveline being a 24V VR6 Turbo. For those that dont know, the entire side of the car was replaced with a 2 door Golf section and made into a Coupe the way VW would have had they made a Mk3 Jetta Coupe (just like 1552 did with their Project X, Mk4 Jetta Coupe). Today, we decided to just see if the Mk4 dash would fit and you wouldnt believe how easy it went in. Nearly zero trimming of the dash is needed other than removing 2 small Mk4 slide mounts from the underside of the front lip. The crossbrace fits perfectly and the mounts for that brace basically bolt in with a slight ovaling of one of the mounting holes and a small weld to stabililize the bottom of the mount. Using the Mk4 dash with the dials for heat/AC control, we decided to see if the Mk4 heatercore/AC blower box fit in the Mk3. I literally bolted in as if it were made for the Mk3. No modifications. Defrost and center/side air ducts all line up with the transfer ducts between the dash and blower box. This is going to be awesome.

Mk4 dash swaps into a Mk3 are 10x easier than any dash swap into a Mk2... physically. Unfortunately, door panel modification is going to be needed but that's nothing compared to the pleasure of having a Mk4 dash in there. I was tempted to yank out my Mk3 dash in my Mk2 and just jump into the Mk4 dash but unless I had the entire wiring harness from a Mk4 car, I wouldnt want to figure out the pinouts for taping all the switches and instrument cluster etc... Enjoy the pics.

Well.. I posted these before but here ya go. Since these, the bodywork is finished and as you can tell in the pics above, the painting has begun. Porsche Arctic Silver (or Polar Silver??) I forget LOL. Engine compartment and door jambs are cut it and the rest will be completed by the end of next week. Interior goes back in Saturday and driveline and suspension is going together steadily as its prepared.

i think its enough to say that, that dash is a eye popper in that car and the car itself will be very impressive

Can I get a witness? That that is definately some killer boots. The MK4 dashboard is a nice choice.

The 2-door jetta conversion is very cool, but I'm a fan of the mk3 dash.Sumptin' about the mk4 dash just doesn't sit right with me, but I'm sure I'm in the minority there. 24v is cool, too!

The fitment looks good, but i am not surprised that its fits so well, we all know that TT dashes fit into a MK3!

Yeah, big deal. Then we'll put a Mk3 dash in Project X!

Very cool work fellas. That was one of the ideas Artie and I were discussing for the Mk3.5 car, before it got totalled, of course.

Thank you. I have been measuring up, down, forward, backward, and it seemed too good to be true on fitment. I've been considering this or a TT dash for some time, but the TT dash has taken off so I leaned towards the mk4. Now I know, it will certainly be my project of choice for the upcoming winter months.

i actually totally agree i like the mkIII dash more, but i'm pretty sure that since you need the new gauge clutser for the 24v vr6 that this is the way to go, this car should be sick
