If there is any issues at cheeburger cheeburger with people being stupid im probably gonna go back to rosa's or not come out at all.. I know that the owner came out to our meet last week and he will probably take care of it if there is any issues but just saying. I dont want to pay a stupid ticket bc of dumb people. also like chance said, going from 18-19 tire prices jump in price alot, imo I would stay with 18's.. also get something wide like 18x9.5 or 10.5 bag it and sit that bitch on the FLOOR!!!!! anywho see you guys out there tomorrow

You know those MB wheels are cheaper quality than most, that's why I'm so against getting them. You'd be better off searching for a set of ROTA SLIPSTREAMS. Those are very light and rota is a decent company. Not the best, but the SLIPSTREAMS are what you want.

I will be out tonight. Not sure if it will be MKIII or MKV, but one of them will be there by about 7:45.

Hope to see some new faces.

Anyone know how to install interior speakers in the R ? I'm tired of my rather lackluster oem speakers and want something a bit better without usage of an aftermarket subwoofer. Any suggestions?

I assume w vagcom you can still change the amp coding to make it think it's a wagon. The original monsoon system allowed this. It pretty much increased the amp level across the spectrum.

Replacing the speakers is not going to make any difference to the stock system. The most popular modification is to change over to the Dynaudio amp. Swapping the amps is a plug-n-play process and has a good reputation of providing a bang-for-your-buck improvement. You will experience higher volumes with crisper sound and a bit better frequency response. It is also known to improve bass output, but do not expect your car to be turning heads at a stop light. The Dynaudio swap is a functional and noticeable improvement over stock.

For a short time (last year) VW dumped them on the market due to model change and you could acquire one for as low as $30 from a dealer. They have since grown in demand and are a bit harder to find now. You should expect to pay $70-$90 for a new one, but I would consider that a nice price for a manufacturer upgrade.

There are multiple places to find them, including specific cars that you may find in a junk yard. All the information you need has been discussed over a long period of time in the R32 forum. It is a frequently referenced topic (one of those things new owners never search for but always ask about).

In your case, you switched to a newer head unit from, what I believe, was an MKVI. I never heard any mention of you checking for configurations or verifying compatibility. If you do the research and determine what changes may need to be made to your new setup, I could assist with the vagcom.

You can make some changes via vagcom and modify the configuration for different setups, but none of the equipment in the R (MKV) allows for a noticeable improvement. The MFD2, RNS-510 and Dynaudio amp do all have capabilities that should be turned on/configured if installed. All the components are interchangeable in the R32, but some will provide more benefit than others and will require configuration for best performance.

MFD2 + Stock Amp = reasonable performance (just enjoy the music of the engine/exhaust).
MFD2 + Dynaudio = improved volume and clarity, still has limited EQ and amp control
RNS-510 + Stock Amp = improved sound/EQ and minor clarity improvements. Lacking in volume and still could be improved.
RNS-510 + Dynaudio = You win. Sound clarity and EQ control are significantly improved. Great experience. For more sound, add a 10".

(If you want to see the quality of VW stock speakers, let Ian show you what we set up in his car or come take a ride in the Passat.)

Ultimately, the changes you make would be highly dependent on your goal.

the white paint on these rims must have been baked on. it is hard to remove, instead of flaking off it is turning to a paste much like caulk ganna take a few days till theyre all cleaned up.

I know and respect your opinion of the MKV R32... sigh.

Anyway, a lot of things can be done on the newer model cars with just some VCDS changes. Much more than was available in the MKIV. There are more options and tweaks, but the end result of that is not necessarily better.

Monsoon was awesome and had a lot of power. Most people just didn't bother setting it up correctly and would replace the amp/speakers. I'll take the Monsoon or Fender sound quality over the stuff made for MK5, for sure.

That's what I did. Aircraft Stripper and Pressure Washer FTW! (no tires though)

Although, I am wondering how long the silhouette of the wheels is going to remain in my driveway concrete...

If you got any stripper on the paint it mess it up. I don't even want to think about the tires (Wouldn't it eat those)??

It will absolutely destroy the paint. Should always dismount the wheels. I've seen people leave the tires on, but i would assume it would cause some sort of damage.

I expect nothing less from you and Watson. The phucking dynamic duo of anti-mkv slander. I know the truth though. Deep down, you want my DSG and MKV seats.

i like to go 5-10 under the speed limit. its a look at me attitude, thats why the beetle is my pick. at abrams every one that pulls up or walks near it looks at for a minute. cant wait til the wheels are cleaned off (stupid white paint)

May I start the discussion on this one...

I have a couple complaints about this location. This is my opinion and I am open to hear others.

    1. Very dark.
We are there for the mutual interest in cars, but I needed a flashlight to see anyone's ride. Also, hard to see dogs, kids, engine bays and various other notables.
    2. It is confined. Smaller lot with smaller spaces and strange curbs that allow people (such as my wife) to hit unseen objects. Just not convenient.
    3. Other patrons. This location is far from being empty when we arrive. The parking-lot was over half full upon arrival.
    4. The highway. Does the constant drone and whooshing of cars from the access road and highway not annoy anyone else? It wasn't quiet at Rosa's or Market Hieghts, but it wasn't that bad.
    5. The Food. Expensive and slow. Just a poor experience all together. (I am not going to go into a critique, I'll stop there). Also, limited accessible options close by.

I am glad we tried a different location and the offer by the management is appreciated. I just don't like this venue as a weekly spot. I would be happy to use it as an occasional place, but that is as far as it goes for me.

This is, of coarse, one opinion out of a multitude of attendees. I am interested in hearing others.
