Most def had a blast last night! Good food (the real bacon I ate), cool people, and good times!
Im down for a new location every now and then, just to change it up. It would give me a chance to get some rolling footage!

just a thought, if you had too choose a VR6 or 1.8T. I know some people had problems with the 1.8 and i had one before never gave me any issues. I was just curious on peoples opinions about these two engines, found a 2 nice GLI one with a 1.8t and one with a VR, around 5-6k in price super clean

friend wants a older jetta, hes getting moving down here to hood, doesnt want a loan just cash he likes the MK4 jettas personally i have no experiance with the VR motor so only the fact that there known for the head gasket going out but any info would be great

I think this one is gonna be a personal preference question. I've had 3 1.8T's and never had an issue with any of them. 2 of them I've had over 200k miles on the blocks. And am blowing 19 psi on my AEB block with 190k on it. As long as you keep on top of the timing belts, I love them. Granted not all original internals. I'm sure there will be just as many posts saying the VR6 is the way to go. Just my 2 cents.

I have owned three VR6 VWs. Two of them were MKIVs.

      2002 Jetta
      2003 GTI
      2008 R32

In total I have put quite a few miles on VR6s. What I can say positive about the VR6 is that I beat the crap out of mine and they never let me down. I seriously ran my GTI pretty hard and it never had a problem. I have never had to replace a part or repair anything outside of normal engine services. I have been a fan of V6 engines for some time and truly love the VW VR6.

With my lack of ever owning a 1.8 it would be unfair and biased for me to say the VR6 is better or more reliable than the 1.8. I can not say which is best, but I can say I would always feel better purchasing a used VR6 that sounds/looks to be in decent condition. That being said, I would be hesitant to purchase a VR6 with FI, regardless of appearance.

I am sure you will find stories for winners and losers on both sides of these engines. In your situation, I would look at the vehicle histories and see which appears to have the better service record.

I would say the 1.8, but I do love my R32...

-Cheaper parts if you have to fix it and there easier to find
-More people know how to work on them
-They can take a beat that's for sure, My 20th Stage III ran like a champ and was my daily
      -Mods are cheaper

Like Chance said the maintenace history is key here, for both suck if they didn't recieve any love over the years or both are beast if they had love...

No damnit, i said white. Like the way you want yours.

It was shiny and alpine white almost. Black wheels and still stock looking in height.

I think it started yesterday with a cruise to a campground where people are camping than the show is tomorrow?

      Jesse is going.. I'm not.

      On the other hand
November 5th Lets gtg for the church of the open door car show. Its always for a good cause and its free to enter. They sell hot dogs and drinks. Its 6-9 on a Saturday. Tell me what you guys think? I went today in the mk2 and Luis was in his b5 a4. There was about 6 aircoolers.
Its an open show with lots of eye candy like hot rods and even an r8 shows up sometimes....
