well unless its colubian motor werks custom... a tested kit is more reliable and if you are trying to piece z custom set up together could be a lot more timely than a all in all shipped kit... shipping is expensive and having pieces come in ever so often is annoying and tme consuming... so does colubian motorwerks want the job me and stuu need the fastest gtis in the world nothing beefs up motors like coffee from juan valdez sorry nag, valdez has something you dont....(conchita)

I would build the engines too.
Unless you want to do it the hard way after something blows up.

well i dont think these guys are exactly going for huge hp...
the 12v vr6 has been known to run up to 350whp on stock internals
while also being a daily driver very easily.
im thinking these dudes will be more then happy with 280-300 whp
for the time being, and should have no problem. lower the
compression ratio with a head gasket and buy a good clutch
and you should be good to go.
obviously building the bottom end of the motor will always be
a good idea, as long as the miles on the motor arent ridiculous and
they arent driving to redline at every green light theres a good chance
it wont be necessary. your tranny will see more stress and wear then your motor will.
and if for some reason 300whp proves to be too much for stock internals and you happen to say, bend a rod, then you have a real excuse to empty your wallet and build your motor!
there are guys here on the vortex that are running anywhere from 400whp to 540whp on stock internals in a 12v vr6 just search for em.
although that much hp wont be the case with every vr6 on stock int.
its somewhat of a testament of the potential strength.

ya chris pretty much what i'm lookin for is daily driver status for now - hopefully a low boost turbo kit at a later date
i was initially planning on a minor build here in about 3 weeks though - i have some $$ inbound
      cams
      lifters / springs
      clutch disk / resurface flywheel
      ARP rod bolts
      ARP main studs
      OEM rod bearings
      main bearings
      OEM thrust bearings
      complete block gaskets
      83mm pistons / rings

some other OEM replacement **** and i need to install the tranny mount and plenum intake mani gasket
and pay jason for the starter that seems to be working great so far

YeH but with an engine that's OVER 100k miles, I don't think that's a really good idea. Never said there wasn't any vrts running low boost, with stock internals, im sure there are plenty of those. All I said was that the engines should be rebuilt before adding the forced induction to it. Instead of blowing the engine and the turbo kit they put together. Just because they have to rebuild the engine doesnt mean they have to use forged internals... and either way, the only think they would really need to get thats NOT OEM it'll prolly be some forged rods and hardware and main bearing bolts/studs...
      Edit:
What up josh!!! What's new mang?!? when u coming back?

if you are going to have your engine apart why not just save a G and
      buy some forged rods...
You wouldn't have to do it a second time when you are ready to go forced induction...

      Just a thought...
