I want to see mountain bikes, the ones that go up AND down the mountain. XC, race, all mountain, etc. I'm going to be buying a new mountain bike soon and want to see what others are riding.

One of my old bikes, Cannondale F700:
stiff and light, excellent climber, not much travel, not so good on downhills

    Where's the Avalanche?

    Anyway-

2000 Pisgah. I definitely recommend riding a quality Ti frame while test riding.

1998 s-works M2. Now built. (Just imagine it full of worn out XTR and a blown out SID Race)

It used to be a 21lb XC race machine with full XTR and a SID SL and original CrossMax wheels.

Here's mine as of a couple of weeks ago. Waterford lugged 853, Fox FloatRLC, and singlespeed.

I wouldn't have bought one if it wouldn't fulfill my needs! It just needs a little massaging in the parts dept - a new fork and crank set is a great place to start, other than that it takes a beating and that frame is burly.

It's pretty much where I want it now, maybe a new set of wheels in the spring and that's it. There's not a lot of stock parts left on it.

    Very nice.

Samson: I don't have any good photos of the Avalanche yet, here is the best for now. This is a '97 GT Avalanche LE, and yes, those gold Mavic 221s are pretty damn cool...

Here's mine. Still trying to find a M950 front derailleur. A little bit of XT does fine for the time being though.

Did you break your rear triangle and get a crash replacement? Is that a Revelation fork?

I went OTB and the bike landed on its side onto some rocks, which resulted to a nasty dent on one of the tubes of the rear triangle. SC didn't have crash replacement triangles anymore for this older model, so I got some high temp putty, filled it, sanded it nice and clean and got the whole thing powdercoated black.

I'd have preferred to see the blue XCs on the Eriksen and you should have purchased yellow XCs (and yellow Speed Grips and an old Judy SL or Mag 21r) for the GT. I'm disappointed.

OriginalGTI - nice Spins! I have a friend with a 1997? Barracuda something or other with the same Spins and Smoke/Dart Magics.
