Here's my Rockhopper. Just got it last year. I've got hybrid tires on it now because I'm using it mostly on crappy roads or hard packed dirt.

was a size too small which made it uncomfortable to ride, i made a nice profit when i sold it, and i literally got the fsr for free. i honesty didn't want to sell it, but i did and it worked out nice so its really hard to complain![]()

Yeah, look at those spacers
. I usually run 1.5" of extra steerer; just in case I need to sell my fork, it's always better to have extra steerer :-P . I like the new ride though. How is the conversion from hard tail to full suspension going for you?

Took mine out today...got a bike pic once I found civilization again and took a breather. Also came across some water and had to ride through because I was WAY too far from where I started to turn back. Threw in a rock to check depth and hit it flying with success. Need to hose her down today though.....she got covered in mud today.

It's been an awesome workhorse- of course there are slicker bikes out there, but this one just works and works and works. It's light, handles well, and is super tough- It's like a Timex.

It was my first "proper" bicycle and for what I use it for (x-country singletrack riding), it's perfect.![]()

yes the ton of spacers, as well as the fact that seatpost is "maxxed" out. i spend a significant amount more time on the road than i do on the trails so i never put much emphasis on having any specific mountain rig. knowing this i never really wanted to switch out from a hardtail as often you can loose some pedaling efficiency from the suspension, nor did i want to invest the money in a significantly more expensive mountain bike. so i kept the hardtail mentality. this deal worked out for me so i went with the full suspension and i can honestly say there is no need for me to really ever consider a hardtail again. especially considering the terrain we ride. as far as the suspension soaking up my pedaling power, it is noticable on the FSR but not nearly as bad as some. what little it soaks up, it makes up for by being the correct size and negotiating obstacles better.
here are a few images to reference the kind of stuff we tend to ride... none of these pictures are mine nor do i know anyone in them (i stole them
) so a hardtail kinda (read: really) sucks to use on these trails.

I guess I should have elaborated a bit. That's what it has always looked like to me. Every time I look at it I can't wrap my head around it for some reason. I just want it to be like every other 4-bar. Haha

haha I know what you mean, even when you look at it close up it looks like it's being stretched. I had to touch it to double check.![]()
