Thread: Best performance chip for the Vr6? Your opinion

    1. 12-03-2008 02:25 PM #1
I own the Neuspeed P-Chip, but feel that there is better performance chips out there. Let me know your opinion. I think GIAC chips top the p-chip

GIAC seems to be most preferred by ppl who have had more than 1 type of chip. search for more opinions....

a while back Neuspeed had said that they run their chips conservatively so as not to damage the car/CARB while GIAC gives you the warning....

I heard good reviews about the c2 chip

dont use "opinions" btw go for dyno numbers

I also have a CEL for the SAI but I don't know if my SAI unit failed or if it's the relay, I've heard that if your SAI fails that it makes a strange sound while running but I have yet to hear weird sounds so I dont know if I should spend all that money to get a replacement since my vw is a moneypit, and I mean it lol. How's that chip that eliminate the SAI function?

I had a CEL for the SAI; replaced everything in the system to no avail. I was about change out the secondary o2 sensor. I said heck with it and got the c2 chip and removed the SAI components completely. No more CEL and more responsive.

does c2 do their own chips as well, or is BFI their distributor?

      (total newb question...)

from my experience i had heard about the c2 chip when reflex tuning posted it in the mkIII forums but at that point i was just too busy with other ish and couldnt afford it.... come the holidays i receive a newsletter from BFI (made previous purchases) with an add for there chip... got interested and spoke with i believe adam or maybe joe...(sorry couldnt remember name and im history didnt have it either, sorry)... but i was told that BFI and C2 had come together to sell the chip... its a c2 chip just for BFI... thats probably the best way to explain it... so far it rocks... has gains and does what it needs to do...

-take care of secondary air and the second o2... no cel... plus i get 7200k redline...

      for the holidays

An NA chip is really only good for it's features; Speed govener removal (when do you hit 130mph anyway) SAI removal, EGR removal.
Performance gains are so small you probably won't feel them, and if you do it is probably imagined. Probably less of a performance gain than replacing worn spark plugs and wires.

... ....so I guess this guy has never put a chip on a N/A car before?

...I don't know what your talking about dude; this statement is definitely incorrect. Obviously, a chip will gain more numbers for a car with F/I than a N/A car. The chip is not just about the initial gains it gives you. It makes the engine a lot more responsive and run leaner. It also adjusts to your parts (and any additional part), helping you get the most out of them. I felt a huge difference after I got my cams and chip (GIAC).

There are many dyno's to prove the gains achieved with a chip. After all, there is a reason why 95% of the people on this forum would list 'chip' in the first performance mods anyone should do. F/I or not
