    1. 03-18-2012 12:41 AM #201
Hey guys just staring to work on my Mk3 Gti and need some info. What should I start with on this car. This is my first vw and would like to start of right. I have done a little research and came across some cams, chips, tunes, info about turbos and more. so please let me know. Are the tunes on these gti's done like any other car i mean can I do my tunes from my laptop or is it a standered tune. Please dont make fun of me Im used to doing tunes of f a game boy lol. So What should I start with? My car is a 1997 GTI really nice condition, and would love to keep it this way. This is not my dd so I would like to start somewhere.

I'm running a test pipe and this file takes care of the CEL. I did not use an 02 spacer.

BFI Guys, I sent you an email regarding issues/frustrations with your chip and got NO RESPONSE. Here's my email as you may be more responsive in this environment:

I have your BFI Stg 2 PEM chip installed in my Mk3 Jetta VR6 and recently had a problem with the car intermittently stalling out or not starting altogether (intermittent CEL light). After all sorts diagnosis (replacing coilpack, wires etc which didn't solve the issue) I came across some threads where others using the chip had the same sort of symptoms. I installed my old GIAC software and the car is totally fine again.

I'd like to get a refund for the chip. Honestly, it's cost me way more money that it has been of value to me. Please get back to me promptly.

So I just bought a 8v obd2 golf that the po states has a "g grind" cam in it..he wasn't sure of the specs of it but thought it was a 268..the car runs great but at idle has a definite lap(can post video if needed) it has no current chip in it and was hoping that you guys would know where to go chip wise and if a chip would infact fix the lapping at idle.

So wait you say the chip is good with delete of the back o2 and the sai pump. But on the BFI website says it requires them. And what about egr delete?

We've made some changes to our PEMs, offering new encryption technologies allowing us to remove the need for the encryption module that was provided with our previous generation BFI PEMs (C2 Motorsport PEMs still require this module).
This simplifies our PEM offering and also allowed us to lower the price of our non-race files!

New listings can be seen using these links:

BFI Stage 1 PEM for ABA
BFI Stage 2 PEM for ABA - Cam Specific

BFI Stage 1 PEM for VR6
BFI Stage 2 PEM for VR6 - Cam Specific

C2 Motorsports Stage 1 PEM for VR6 - RACE file
C2 Motorsports Stage 2 PEM for VR6 - RACE file

Bought a chip from you guy back in June of 2011, within a week it didn't work. You guys told me I was sent a "bad file". You's sent me another chip and now that one doesnt work...ive tried other chips and they work fine. I even ran another ecu and still nothing from the c2 PEM stage 2 chip. I sent an email the other day so I'd like to here from you guys soon.

      Thanks You

This is the same Issue that I'm having now, and I corrected by doing the same thing, by tryin a different chip. This is the second PEM stage 2 chip that I received, if there is anyone that can help me get my money back I'd greatly appreciated it

Sorry for the delayed response, we've slowly been getting back on Vortex while we're getting back to normal after Waterfest.
Send us an e-mail to sales@blackforestindustries and make the email attention to Joe.
Explain what's going on and provide your contact information.
He will get back with you in regards to the problems you're experiencing.

These PEMs are for n/a ABAs and VR6s only.
Contact C2 about forced induction software for your Mk3.
They should be able to burn you a custom file for your setup.

Adding a turbo requires turbo-specific software.
Check out the available turbo PEMs from C2 Motorsports in the Mk3 Engine Performance section of our website.

I'm sorry, but I'm not fully aware of your situation. I suggest you continue to correspond with Joe regarding the situation.

To elaborate on a portion of your question - you don't need to leave the SAI and o2 "installed", but you can't have the electrical connections just dangling there. You'll need to leave the products plugged in, or resistor them.

For example, if you simply unplug the rear o2 - aftermarket software of not - you'll receive a CEL for open circuit. The software simply does not rely on the input from the sensor, thus allowing you to run things like a test pipe without receiving a catalyst inefficiency code.
