Well, I didn't make it to the meet. My motorcycle stopped working as I was on my way to get the loaner car for the tiguan that died.

Found out what's wrong with it though. All they know is that a spark plug was damaged when they removed it, they peeked inside the cylinder and found pieces of a valve all over the place. That explains the clinking sound I heard while the engine turned. They are guessing the timing chain skipped a tooth and the timing got all screwed. The service manager is working with VW to get us a new engine instead of fixing it. They didn't want to actually open it and work on it.

I've never heard of a timing chain skipping a tooth like that.

Pretty sure it's a belt right? I've heard it happening when a water pump seizes or fails.

I got a jetta TDI as a loaner. I can't believe I'll say this but, what a nice car! Other than you can clearly see they went as cheap as possible on the interior and stripped all sorts of features, I love the DSG, how quiet it is and that Fender audio system.

This thread moves...and I have mostly just lurked. I have been going nuts with school, and then had an awesome vacation up at the coast of Oregon. I wanted to see Ryan, but we didn't spend as much time in Portland as we hoped, and didn't end up seeing him. Tuesdays have been meeting nights for me, so I have been completely absent from the dcdubs crowd, but I am still out here. The Porsche is driving great. Still leaking water through the rear window seal, but I will probably fix that someday..... I have a little birthday cash and I am ordering a few parts for it. Now we just need the insanely hot weather to quit so I can drive it without melting.

I'll try to make it next week as well. I got a Jetta TDI as a loaner while they get me a new engine. The car sucks but the Fender audio almost makes it worth getting one. Lol

I've started cycling to work, since I live right in housing.

A small update. I am still having trouble with the warranty. Everything that is broken is covered in the policy. However in the "what is not covered" section it says if a covered part is damaged by a not covered part it is not covered. It also says that nuts, bolts, and fasteners are not covered. They are not going to pay to get my car fixed because it was a bolt that backed out of the camshaft sprocket that caused all this to happen.

Yup, this is why these aftermarket warranty's are a joke. I have heard many many stories of this happening and not one where they actually covered a big failure. If its expensive, they will have all the bases covered to worm out. So lame.

I bout it from national warranty services. What company did you get yours from and what problems are you having with your tig?

Sorry, by same problem I meant that both cars are down and with issues with the timing chain. I am under the OEM warranty at 11k miles, so it's all being covered.

So far, still waiting on a new engine, haven't gotten any updates from strong. They're starting to piss me off with the waiting and never being updated about any progress.
