...Sooo..B&R in Layton always has done good work for me in the past...but I've chasing down a rattle in the rear of the car lately without success. This morning I pulled into a steepish driveway diagonally and THUNK. The bolt connecting the bottom of the strut together with the sway bar end link and control arm is GONE, strut hanging there. I'm pretty sure B&R was the last ones to touch the suspension but I could be wrong. I'm not sure that they would need to loosen that bolt. Adjustable control arm's seem to have a lock nut that isn't very tight either.

I guess that's why the rear has been bump steering out slightly lately. Between that and the fuel pump in the Passat last week, the hole in the gas tank of the MK3 and needing to part the MK1 and get the red MK1 more reliable I'm completely up to my neck. Having any sort of good initial plan with these cars would have been a good idea.

    I have some news...

Im gonna be a daddy! We had an ultrasound and found out that its gonna be girl. She is due feb. 16 2013, but will have to come a few weeks early because she has gastroschisis. She will also spend about the first month of her life in the NICU at primary children's because of it. My already busy life is about to get busier because we have to meet with the docs every 2 weeks for the next 12 weeks and then 2 times a week at the U of U hospital for the rest of the pregnancy. So the already slow progress that is my car is going to take even longer due to lack of funding and time.

We are super excited to have a daughter just dont want her to have to come into the world in that way.

Congrats to the both of you! The good new is that, that kind of birth defect is fixable. I hear good things about primary children's. I took my daughter there to have her tonsils taken out when she was 4. Wonderful staff there. Parenting is exciting but also tiring and frustrating. As long as you and your significant other work together, things will be great!

Hey Nolan, if you want to talk about this or have any questions about what you are in for from a parents aspect let me know. My son was also born with Gastroschisis at primary, my wife was on bed rest for 4 months before the birth also. They are really really good up there, but you are in for a ride man. Let me know if you have any questions, also if your wife would like to talk to my wife about it, she would be more than happy as well.... she has a great perspective on the matter being both a mother of a Gastroschisis born child and a medical student.

Congrats on the news man, very good to hear!

Congratulations!! My son spent his first week of life at the NICU at Primary's, they're awesome there, both with the parents and the baby. You'll be amazed at how well newborns recover from surgery. My kid had to have a piece of his skull removed and in 2 days he acted as if it hadn't happened. Those procedures are usually harder on the parents than on the infant.

And I thought I had big news saying I got a new car. Should've posted about it last night.

Congratulations! I can't speak for the challenges you'll have in that situation but no matter what, being a parent changes your life. I say for the better.

Thanks, I fully expect it to change my life. I am very excited but also very nervous.

Well, I love the car but I hate the rims. I already have a set of 16" rims for my snow tires. Anyone interested in a set of Bioline 16" wheels with less than 100 miles on them? Tires included.

After I get a set of 17" or 18" rims, I'll have a better idea of what to do about the suspension. For now I'd say the car is very well balanced, it's not a sports car but handles very well around corners while still being comfy and quiet enough to keep a baby asleep (literally).

Can't wait for a tune to that TDI!!!

The interior looked a lot better when i got it thursday night. They forgot to remove a blue tape that was protecting the inside lights and it gave the inside a much more refined look. I think the first cheap mod will be LED lighting.

Wow. browsing Ebay for some cheap tail lights to replace my busted ones. There are a few nice ones for cheap but most of the stuff causes me to take a break and puke my guts out every 30 seconds or so. Who buys this $hit?!!

AND HOW MANY VERSIONS OF ALTEZZA TAIL LIGHTS ARE POSSIBLE?

Thanks, I may hit you up if I can't pick anything out. I'm kind of liking the FK LED but they look like the light output is poor from an angle, especially during the day.

Got LED lights installed in the interior last night. Car looks a lot more refined now, amazing how a simple change makes such impact. Complaints so far: the vanity mirror LED is so bright you have to be really careful not to look at it or you'll be blinded for a few seconds (I guess it's a good thing I don't use makeup), the footwell lights don't dim like e OEM ones do so I left the OEM ones in place. Maybe if I add a resistor to it or a CANBUS error free adapter that'll solve the oils sue but I doubt it.

Next up is license plate lights! CANBUS adapter should arrive today!

This weekend I'll have to polish the paint, the dealership scratched the paint when washing it. Not sure I blame them but I'm still kind of pissed. There are little grains of what looks like salt all over the car. Probably stuff it picked up on the road and it created a bunch of tiny scratches all over. I'll have to fix them before clear bra is installed this week. I wonder if I should apply a coat of sealant to the paint before the clear bra? I'd think yes, but if I bet they'll remove it before installing it anyway.

Speaking of clear bra, I got a set of splash guards. The car is getting filthy without them. Anyone happens to have a couple of tiny strips of the stuff I could take/buy? I want to protect the paint from being rubbed by the splash guards with a little piece of clear tape. If not, I'll just ask pro tint for scrap pieces.

After all of that I can tell the next project will be removing the roof rails. They're noisy and the car looks much cleaner without them...and it's free! Almost...
