Hopefully not as many resolutioners tonight. It also doesn't help that the softball, football, and soccer teams from the local high school all train at my gym. Can you say hogging the squat racks?

same with my local gym, luckily the new gym (used to be a powerhouse, now private in a crappy old warehouse :fap :fap im getting my membership at for the summer is pretty slow.

i can't wait to lift there, most of the regulars are competing powerlifters and a few pro bb'ers as well.

THe spinning class looked crowded as **** tonight.

A family of Samoans claimed the two flat benches and proceeded to take forrrrrever to do their ****. Yes, xander, their form was horrible as well.

It's all about squats and deads.

I'm skipping Monday nights for the next few weeks just because of how insanely crowded it gets.

I drove by yesterday, saw the parking lot overflowing into the street and decided to try again tonight.

I need to find myself a new gym.

Last Monday was like that for me, too.
But yesterday I went at 9pm, an hour before closing, and it was pretty empty. If your schedule allows, I'd recommend trying that.

They just stand in them, stare at people, and say "like" a lot. My buddy finally snapped the other night and says to them, "It's like shut like the f*ck up like!" Definitely thought he was going to get kicked out for that one.

I saw a new one today....

this somewhat built guy comes over next to me while I'm doing dead lifts and is setting up his spot on the smith machine to bench. Okay, I'm thinking he might have a bad shoulder and is recovering or something so he doesn't want to strain it too much on the normal bench, whatever. Keep in mind this guy looked like he spent the night sleeping on a tanning bed. I mean, he was so over-burnt that his eye lids looked like they shriveled up.

So I do my set and I noticed he started with 1 45 on each side, then jumped to 2, then 3

The thing is, he was screaming out the rep he was on, I pulled my headphones off and see him struggling with the 3 plates saying "SEEVVENNNNN!!!!!!"

On another note, I did notice alot of the "resolutioners" have cleared out from my gym. Must have been the free 10-day passes expiring

yeah it was kinda funny, the other day when i was at the gym this guy hits a real bench press, struggles with a plate and gives up after a couple reps. then he gets up and sits down at the smith machine and then starts "benching" 2 plates. i snickered

That's what I like about working nights, go to the gym afterwards getting there around 1am there's usually only 10 other people in the gym max, never have to wait for anything.

    20. 01-14-2009 12:08 AM #230
how does that work for you guys? i find if i hit the gym too late, im just too tired, same with working out in the morning (although lack of calories is the culprit here)

although i'd imagine your sleeping during the day if your working nights.

The Greasy Russian was reprimanded for continuing to wear jeans to the gym, which is apparently a gym rule.
It's all about squats and deads.

I work 4pm - 1230am, get to the gym around 1 and leave about 230. I usually go to sleep between 4 and 5am and sleep till noon

Only thing I really hate is when friends make plans that start early in the day, it's sleeping late for them but getting up really early for me.

i couldn't believe it, last night someone was curling in the squat rack! i know you guys talk about it all the time but that's the first time i've seen it. and it was a woman curling the bar with 2.5lbs on each side! we have preset barbells with flat bars... i dont know why she needed the squat rack

just imagine if you wanted to squat or deadlift there and she was busy curling her 2.5's

      I'm surprised a woman was curling 50lbs.

in front of the rack. at the gym i used to use it was the only place that would ever have a free bar.

had a similar thing happen the other night, I was using the squat rack and I guess he really wanted to do curls so he used the military press station . It looks like this.

The gym also has a bunch of the preset barbells, which he eventually noticed.

I work from 9-5, and between 5-8 I eat, screw around on the 'tex, and play my guitar, basically wind down.

then at 8-830 I amp myself up, eat a bit more, get ready for the gym. I LOVE going late, not becuase of people, but the more I eat, and the more time I spend awake, the more aware, focused, and loose I feel.

I can go at 6pm, but it's right after work, and I feel rushed.

same here, i dont make it to the gym until 1030 some nights.

i -do- like the fact that there's nobody there. i like to hit a set of squats/deads and wander around my immediate area in an A.D.D. trance.

I've decided I'm taking this week off. New schedule of classes + MASSIVE influx of resolutioners from campus = I'm not waiting half an hour for a rack to open up at 9pm and I refuse to lift in the morning. ****ing fatties, I WAS HERE FIRST GODDAMMIT.

    33. 01-15-2009 01:16 AM #243
when my younger misinformed friends try to explain that supplements help build muscle....superpump is a pre-workout supp.. "i worked out for 2 weeks without it and my workouts sucked.. i was tired after 2 lifts"

i have an idea, eat more than 3 tiny meals a day.

Last night was awesome. Not only did I witness a guy doing curls in the squat rack, but I also looked on to see him do tricep presses in the squat rack. Yes you heard it here folks, he was doing standing tricep presses with 5lbs on each side of the bar. Simply amazing.

Honestly, this year's bunch is luckily more pathetic than years past. Mondays are a joke cuz it's just wayy too overcrowded. Tuesday - Sunday is fine and as the week goes on, less and less people show up. Last night was great. Seemed about normal. It's amazing how thinks like cold weather (not even rain or snow) deter these *******.
