Thread: DIY Ignition Timing Light (That is make one) ?

    I read on a Swedish website that it is very easy and possible to build an Ignition Timing Light looking something like this :

    Is this a bad idea?

    Its not worth it. Go to harbor freight if there is one near you and you can buy a timing gun for $15

    That's for static timing (ie with the engine off)... which is how the aircooled vdubs used to be adjusted way way back in the day. BTDT... in my youth of course.

    Not gonna work for our engines.. timing values specifications are dynamic (ie engine running) so you need a strobe.
