    ***Clear Water Dubs***

OK, either the other area thread died or all the other dubbers in the area sold their cars, like the guy who started the original thread .
I have 3 VDubs and no plans on selling them...so here we go again. It would be great to get together with other Dubminded people in the area some Saturday afternoon and talk shop. Spring is on the way because Menards already has all their Patio Furniture out for sale.
I am a member of dubnoxious and CVVC (Chippewa Valley Volkswagen Club).
I plan on going to Chicago on April 19 for the Windy City GTG and it would be fun to have a few other cars/people to go with.

With all that said.....Chippew Valley Dubbers.....Alive or Dead ?

Looks like the other thread died...I'll jump in here again. I've had 3 Jetta's and I love em. Below is a picture of my current VW...2004.5 GLI with some mods. It's got a FMIC, flashed, blowoff valve, j-valve...etc. Hopefully we can get some others to join in this discussion.

I go to school at UW-Stout. Own a mk4 GTI. It is in storage and probably will for a while. Don't know if I am going to bring it out here as its my last semester.

    I've seen a few MK4's here...
    - stock silver 337
    - black, dropped, 20thae
    - black mk4 jetta that says "JETI" on the back
    - blue mk4 jetta with ugly euro tails

  11. 02-18-2009 08:48 PM #11
Have you done anything to your GTI?

I live in Chippewa, but spent most of my time in EC for school.

    Here is my mkiv

    Alittle better pictures

I have vmaxx coils in my basement waiting for spring
    And these

And i just picked up my new project. 1990 Gti 8v

Im going to fix the bits of rust it has and repaint it, hopefully before april. Im looking at doing either a 2.0 ABA 16v or a vr6 swap. Not sure what i want to do to the exterior, probably euro small bumpers with the red stripe, red stripe around the grill, shaved engine bay and thats about all i have planed so far.

Thanks, i thought about a 16v also, it mainly depends on what i can easily find. I found a passat vr6 parts car yesterday, but some one already grabbed the engine from it lol Im down for a gtg anytime.

Ive been looking for a GTI for along time so im pretty stoked about this project. From the looks of thing outside this is going to be my winter project..... I was hopeing winter would be over so i can pull my car out and work out side. My brother just picked up a 98 GTI project car too, he's pretty lazy though and hasnt touched it yet lol.

Anyone have a good opinion on a motor that i should use? I keep changing my mind day by day.

    Options
-Keep the 1.8 8v that runs fine and build that
-Go though the hassel of a VR6 swap
-Build a aba 2.0 16v hybrid (already have a 2.0 short block laying around, would just need a 16v head)

Also the car already has a 16v close ratio transmission

    Too many options lol

    My 2 cents worth.
    The 16v....Here is why.
A)How fast do you really need to go? VR6 = $$$$ paid to the state in tickets.
    B) Transmission - Done!
    C) You have the 2.0 block
    D) Parts are easy to come by.
    E) 16v is sexy!

Ok I will quit....anyway you asked.

    inertpyro,
How well does the 1990 1.8 run? Maybe we can work something out when you get around to pulling it. My 91 Cabby's 1.8 is getting tired.

    Just a thought,
    Cory

I havent drove it much but it seems to run pretty good. When i bought it i drove home from the cities and it ran smooth. I think it needs a new idle control valve, it tends to stick at 2000rpm's when you let off the gas. I found a few 9a 2.0 16v engines, not sure when i will be doing the swap. But im sure we could work something out.

Ok Maybe you can not tell by my posts but I'm not a fan of Winter.
So Sundays forecast is...you guessed it....SNOW!
In an effort to flip off Mother Nature I mounted my BBS's today.
If we get enough snow ...maybe I don't make it to work Monday. Ha Ha Ha!
I did however leave the cover on the Cabby. I'm nuts but not crazy.
