If it is just bumper and fender that is messed up i doubt they will total it out. but you never know.. either way get a quote from a couple body shops. what does Henry's Auto Body shop charge for something like that?

Given the value of the car and the cost to fix it being a few grand. I would not rule out them totaling it out.

I was able to find a reflex silver driver side fender for the golf at Don's Sports Cars over by appleton, oshkosh area. Paid 75 bucks for it, although the tone of the silver is a bit off

Yeah, now imagine invisi-burning in your upside-down car while you try to explain to the guy who stopped to help that the flames are invisible because it's alcohol, and he's got to try and put out the fire currently engulfing your body. I'm sure they'll just think you're in some sort of crazy panic...until they see your face melting off.
