Which car? I'm guessing the MKIV? Is it the 1.8T or 2.0? I would suggest using Vag-Com to pinpoint the exact problem. There's quite a few things that can cause a misfire. Bad coil packs and harnesses, low fuel pressure, intake air leak, stuck open EGR valve, bad mass air flow sensor, bad front oxygen sensor, ignition system problems, etc. Even a plugged catalytic converter can cause misfiring.

I know the MAF's are kind of a common part to fail as well as knock sensor which can also cause misfiring. MAF's are easy enough to pop off and spray out with some cleaner. Maybe give that a go? Kinda sounds like bad coils too.

Highly suggest scanning it with VAG-COM before blindly throwing parts at it.

I have today off and don't have to be back at work till the 18th Going to drive to my parents tonight and spend the night... Saturday morning start making our way to Utah... One of my stops in Utah is Integrated Engineering, trading in my bad clutch fork for a fuel rail. and also gonna decide than If I'm going to take the plunge into standalone or not... 2400 bucks is alot of coin and not sure If I wanna go that route yet (Just nervous) as I'll have to rewire alot on my car as the Vi-Pec ECU won't fit where my Ecu is now so have to extend alot of wires and find new location.....

Either way gonna be nice to get away for a week and a half... Going to Moab, Zion, Arches national parks and hitting up Grand Canyon in Arizona ect.... Should be fun cruise in the wifes GTI

And speeking of her car, I just did the first oil change on it (5000 Miles) and I drained the oil and poered it into an old 5 Quart mobile 1 container and there was only like 3-3.5 quarts of oil that drained out including the filter..... Are the 2.0TSI known for burning oil... Like a dumb ass I never checked the oil level since we got it as I didn't think it was too necessary on a new car.... Now that I know its full I'll keep an eye on it

Brad, why don't you just get your car running with mestro first and then go stand-alone if you don't like the tuning? You may find that tuning is your favorite part of the whole build! You may not know much about how to do it now, but you'll learn by experience.

I'd be more concerned with your oil consuption after another oil change or two. New engines tend to burn more oil until they are broken in (obviously). I am pretty sure when I changed the Tig's oil @ 5000 miles that 5 quarts didn't come out of it either.

Yeah you might be right on the standalone thing.. After all the money I got in this thing I really want to use it at ts full potential... And I can guarantee that with standalone it would be... With Eurodyne it might take me years to get it tuned to its full potential... There is no reason that with everything I have in my car that I'm not at 450 to 500 hp to the wheels and I bet with the tune I have I'm guessing I'm only at 350-matbe 400 or so (just guessing as I never hit up a Dyno) We will see, maybe I'll just buy a surgetank or something while there and buy the IDF control arms and solid aluminum subframe bushings and keep Maestro.... I will know more when I talk to Pete at IE next week....

As far as the oil thing I'm not really too worried yet as it was just the first oil chabge and I never measured Mandee's Jetta when I did that first oil change so it might be ok

Oh I also did talk to Shane over at DB Performance in Rogers MN and he has been playing with Maestro a little bit so maybe he will learn it this winter and next summer I'll be golden than...

I asked him about Vi-pec standalone and he said it was good but might need to get an External knock amplifier to make it work with our cars so that would be an additional 450 bucks on top of the 2400 so yeah Maestro might be the better option even if it doesn't run at its full potential

Haven't scanned it with vag-com yet. It's a mkIV 1.8t. It has a catless down pipe so plugged cat is out. The one idea that was thrown out there a few times was my timing belt skipped a tooth as I have almost 160k on the factory belt that I'm aware of. Anyone have vagcom that they'd be willing to lend a hand this weekend to scan it and try to figure this out?

Another thing is who knows how old those codes are... I'd get a vag com from someone, clear codes and drive around and see what pops up
