I would so rock the hood and roof, and if they did a trunk id get that too. I would paint them all though, well maybe not the roof but it would reduce alot of weight.

for what? the roof is the same size.

Maybe so, but the joint at the C pillar is different on 4dr to 2dr golfs/jettas and jetta coupes have a different C pillar.

      i want all!!

      probably minus the roof though...

Too many people around here have nothing interesting to add to a thread so the feel the need to play english teacher.

Lay off it, dude. Broham is from Cyprus (it's close to Greece) which means English is probably a 3rd language. Even if that wasn't enough reason, he just brought a link to what might turn out to be quality genuine carbon panels. Bryson already ordered some so we'll find out soon enough.

To the OP: Thanks for the link. Besides a couple hoods, CF isn't very popular around here. Part of the reason is that most people are cheap and part is that there was no place to find quality parts. Hopefully a few people will step up and see how this works out (Won't be me. I have way too many other things to do first.)

      Thanks for the geography lesson.

You wanted something interesting, so here is my $.02

I fail to see the need for CF body sections. The mk2 hood for instance weighs less than 20lbs, and the hatch weighs in at less than 30lbs.

These cars are econo boxes, and the expense of sourcing and acquiring CF components to make them lighter seems stupid. Money is better spent elsewhere.

If you wanna ditch some weight, start by buying a nice set of OZ's or Compomotives and ditch the boat anchors that these cars come with.

The difference between CF body panels and a nice set of wheels? The wheels dont look stupid.

As for english as a subsequent language, awesome.

French is my second language and I am currently learning Italian. I gladly take any pointers in the spoken/written word.

considering the extent at what my jetta is built, i have spent money in all the right places.

No, I ended up not getting Rota's and went w/ something nice, well as far as perfomance not balla status.

I am wanting to do the roof and I would leave it carbon, but with my own twist.

      to each his own.

^^Bry, your jetta has the money spent where it should be spent first.

If the CF is the last thing you can do, and everything else is built right, then fine.

But going out and getting a CF hood to cover up all the rippling power of that CIS 8V, just to say that you have a CF hood is stupid.

For me, weight reduction will come in the following forms:

-Aluminum calipers, and 2 piece rotors w/ aluminum hats.
-A nice set of ultra light compomotives
-A gutted rear interior with sound deadening removed from floors as well as seam sealer removed.
-Replace HUGE stereo in the trunk with a much smaller unit
-Replace 75# tool box with the bare essentials (10, 13, 15, 17, and 19mm Combination wrenches with associated sockets & drivers.)
-Replace all of my boost plumbing with aluminum tubes (once I learn how to TIG)
-Replace my Mild Steel exhaust with a stainless one.

I could go on and on and on.

I feel ya. I'm not against what you said at all. you're on par... but remember, it's the Vortex. BBS' warrant the $3k and no paint job. Most will buy for looks. That's on them. I'm just tired of trying to "change" the way people think on here. It's so far corrupt, one just gets bashed. Notice there are no tech threads anymore. Very few people asking tech questions anymore.
