I had been house shopping in Vegas and saw some really cool mid-century modern homes, the forum seemed to like seeing the pics and talking about MCM design - so here is the official mid-century modern appreciation thread.....
I will start it out by posting the pics of the "square" house that started the discussion:

check out Lottaliving.com for some great examples of MCM. They even have a Real Estate For Sale section to see what's on the market and how much it'll run you.

yea, that'll do that to you. I've been wanting a MCM house for a couple years. I'm actually trying to figure out how to put a living room addition onto the front of the house with a low pitch and clestory windows. Just add it to the list of dreams/projects.

If you like MCM design check out this site...focuses mostly on churches and commercial buildings rather than homes, but there are some fantastic examples.

I almost bought an old church, like above but smaller, to reno into a house by the wifey wasn't into it. The main floor was 4000sq ft.
Major drawback for me was the whole property was asphalt which meant a lot of dumpsters and bobcat work.

I almost bought an old Bank to reno into a house. As I recall it was very affordable, something like $110,000 back in '04 when I was in the market. The dealbreaker was the taxes. Since it was a commercial prop it was over 10K a year.
anyhow, back to MCM. Along with Eichler and P&K, Cliff May did some great homes in Cali as well. check out ranchostyle.com for some examples. The best thing about May homes is how the back of the house opens right up to a pool.
