update: signed the lease last night, will be living in the green home for a year starting next weekend........ moving will be-the-suck....... once I get it up and running will post some pics.... the owner did clear and cut down the landscape in front, since the last time I was there..........

Congrats. Let me know if you need any feedback on interior design or layout. It's too bad we're not coming to LV this year otherwise I'd swing by with a bottle of champagne.

I *love* MCM. Things like the last 2 pics above soothe my soul. "Traditional", "colonial" and developer McHouses are like a cheese grater to my soul.

I wanted to bump this. I have always wanted to get a mcm. My wife and I are looking to hopefully get one within the next year, so more inspiring pics would be awsome

yea that sucked big time. We just got started "retrovating" our kitchen last week. Here's a shot of the semi finished product:

going mid-century one room at a time.

since this thread is back from the dead I'll throw up an updated pic.

    vintage kitchen- almost done

    vintage kitchen- almost done

We've also done a bit of work in the living room as far as eradicating the ikea/new furniture and going back to vintage stuff. The only things new in the living room now are the Mac and our 52" TV on the wall.

    living room vignettes

this living room shot is actually dated too. We have a cool as Wall Unit full of vintage knick-knacks and the two white shelves have been taken over by my wife's new obsession with little ceramic things like deer and owls. Plus 2 AWESOME pictures of cats we got at the flea market for a Buck, yup, 2 for a dollar.

    Little shelf of fun

and every Vintage house needs an Aluminum tree.

thanks, it was shipped from Oklahoma to NJ. I won it on eBay Christmas eve a couple years back for $77. Let's just say it cost significantly more than that to ship it. I'm still looking for a Frigidaire range hood to go between the top of the stove and the cabinet, it's designed to have one.

Watch out, there are a ton of knockoffs out there, some decent but most are crappy.
There are only two manufactors that make this chair and thats Herman Miller USA
and Vitra EURO. The two of them places the name (Eames) on the chair. Look for that when you go looking.

There's a Modern / MidMod Furniture Auction I go to every couple months and I've seen some of the most incredible furniture go through there. A couple gorgeous teak cedenzas, some Herman Miller Plycrafts, some decent prices, some through the roof. I'll take some pics of our wall unit soon and post them here.

Great thread. My house is a rather pedestrian 2 story (built int he 80s). I do love the vintage feel, and when I can, I add some period pieces. I have found some awesome corner hanging lamps, and use them as accent pieces. My bar is a knock-off of a 60's style, and I have also bought some vintage glassware to round it out.

My dream house is something like these gems shown above, but I don't think I would be able to get there at this point in my life.
Some of my "finds". All flea market stuff, nothing was expensive.

Wow Synthsis talk about a time machine you have there, I can actuall see Biff walking in and having a
    seat on the couch.
Although too pure for my taste you've created some very convincing living spaces, very impressive.

anywho......although very nice as it is some mid century modern furniture in here would really set it this place off...

I love the look of mid century modern design... just always wonder if it's my ideal living space. I tend to prefer living in "warmer" design spaces.

Thanks for the compliments. I've gotta finish up our bedroom and shoot that. There isn't much too it (12x12sq) but it does have a Danish Mod/MCM dresser set in it and a couple shelves of some of my vintage cameras.

Although too pure for my taste you've created some very convincing living spaces, very impressive.
Pure? haha. the 56" LCD on the opposing wall and the iMac on the desk (both conveniently out of sight in the pics) would differ with the pureness. I do try to balance the old with the modern. New furniture just doesn't do it for me, so generic and stale. I do plan on replacing the 2 armchairs with 1 Herman Miller Plycraft lounger when I finally get the loot set aside.

I also have a ton of tiki mugs and tiki brick-a-brak, so I plan on building a tiki bar at some point in our sunroom but I need to figure out why it basically floods in there every time it rains or snows. Free beers to anyone who can figure it out for me.

Another note, I have the complete blueprints drawn up to add a full open floorplan living room/dining space to the front of my house when I get back to work. It's going to be a low pitch roof with clerestory windows.

I live in a MCM neighborhood outside Atlanta.

I don't have any pics, but my house is a ranch with six sliding glass doors and a funky roof. Here is a link to the neighborhood site.

This thread needs more love. I recently purchased a Florence sofa, love seat, chair + ottoman. Completely change the look of my living room. Also found a round/glass-topped Lane Altavista end table off of CL recently to add to the collection.

Anyway, looking for more inspiration so please...oblige.
