    Thread: my 16v rebuild thread

      i cant seem to be happy with what i have

      as of now
      stock 9a bottom end
      p&p 2.0 16v head
      euro intake cam
      brospeed header
      brospeed 2.5 cat back
      lightened flywheel
      p&p intake
      gsxr 1000 itb's
      ms v3mrunning ms2e for fuel and spark

      im looking to make a bit more power NA

      i got my hands on a 1.8 16v head that i p&ped a good deal more than i did the last one.
      the idea with this head is to make the valvetrain as light as i can. i am going with a .5 oversized valve, ti retainers, high rev springs, light weight lifters. i want to cut as much weight as possible from the valvetrain and any other rotating mass.

      i am going to put a rather large cam in, probably a cat 275 or 279/268 set


      to cut more weight i will be going with a light weight cam gear, itr shaft gear and, underdrive crank pully.

      with this setup i hope to make about 200 at the crank ? may happen

      i am also thinking of building the bottom end
      but not sure what to do
      i will most likely go with a forged rod probably IE rods or scat

      but im not sure if i should buy pistons or just boost compression with a shorter head gasket

      run some 288 cat cams or TT cams for the hyrdo head. Awesome set up. more power then a stock VR and less money you have in that. I'ld wager to say it probably sounds better too... yes, I just went there

      SWEEEEEET setup man, nice and clean

      You could get some lighter wheels, lighter clutch (no idea how you would find out the weight of all the aftermarket clutches, unless you are happy with yours). Knife edged crank then balance everything. Thats all I can think of, good luck dude.

      that chart is wheel hp.
      and i have some wide wheels going on this spring

      i also have a set of 15in steels for dyno and track day, as the dials are a bit heavy.

      I would go for the Cat 279/283 cams. Its looking pretty good so far.

      so it looks like i am getting a new block. price too low to pass up. this is good cause i can build the bottom end without taking the car off the road.

      the new block will probably go .04 over. im am looking at je 11.3:1 83.5 pistons. i found some rods on ebay that i am thinking of getting? not sure but from the pic and almost word for word description they sound like IE rods but without the IE stamp. but about 100 bucks less. not sure what to do thats a pretty critical part to trust to ebay. they clam to be good up 650hp as i am only looking for 250 at the very most , it may be ok

      pistons on order i went with the weisco 11.3:1
      will be picking up the new block this week, gunna send the inter. shaft to be turned down

      Custom offset ones from Alloys-R-Us. He'll chime back in on the exact offsets, as I don't remember.

      the wheels are 16x7 fronts et53.7 and 16x8 rears et53.7. adapters are, as jer said from alloys-r-us. the guy there was pretty cool. the fronts are 22mm and the rears are 24mm. so et31.7 and et29.7

      much to update, no work done but a boatload of parts cam in
      1st off got that cheap block after to much hassle.




      the block is in ok shape and will be going out to the machine shop as soon as pistons arive

      port work on the head is being finished off


      much work being done here

      valves .5 oversized

      and lastly the wrong retainers
