Finally got her back from body shop-

Fully painted & ready to go back together.

    Overwhelming......

Cant get anything mechanical done for about a month so its tiime to get headliner, glass in & work on what I can before I can have wiring & fuel system done.

    Some pix from today.....

    One of my favorite angles

    A little pre-headliner prep

Funny, I was looking back at my first post on this thread & back then I thought I'd have this done in 6 months, HA, I'll be lucky to finish in 6 years!

This is an amazing build and an inspiration to all that have an early wasserboxer tucked away.

Did want to mention to you from personal experience that the dynamat is excellent on the floors and doors but not on the roof! as soon as you leave the car out in the sun on a hot day it will start to literally melt and peel the edges and may cause the headliner to sag I would use something similar to the original and use an industrial spray gun to glue it on.

What is the paint color code for the instrument cluster?

Crap, didn't think about the Dynamat heating up. These sheets were all glue on the back side & I put the oem insulation in over the Dmat. Just put the headliner in yesterday before reading this

    On the colors:
Exterior is Porsche GT silver, not sure of color code, body shop had it in their book.
The cluster is Krylon metallic series dull aluminum -1408 I think.

I wouldn't worry about the Dynamat too much.

You're using Dynamat Xtreme; I've run the same stuff for three years now, under the hood of my Corrado to replace the underhood foam. Gets exposed to some serious heat...not one sign of an issue, and not one problem with adhesive or melting...

    You should be fine.

    Sorry for the long delay.

Car has been at a shop I thought would move quicker than they did. After months of very slow progress, I had to cut my losses and bring the car home. Way frustrated, almost threw in the towel and put the project in the classifieds. Once I got it back in the garage, I was able to exhale & realize I'm in too deep now to quit.

Spent the day cleaning glass and trying to install what I could. Got the rear sides in with trim, but when I went to get the windshield in, couldn't get it in with the trim in the rubber so for now it's in without the trim. It's new rubber from Vintage and was a bit tight.

Anyone have any success getting trim in after the windshield is in or do I need to pull it & try again?
Tried a search but search no worky for me? I thought there was a good thread about tricks on glass
    install????
Contemplating running trim less front & hatch rubber-
Only bummer is I just had all the trim refinished.

Next up is the hatch & the door rubber/glass/regulators.

Mechanically, still need to find someone to finish the fuel system & wiring.

They talk about it a bit in this thread. About 2/3rds the way down that page

It's a lisle tool. I agree with Andy, liberal lubrication and that tool should make it easy for you to get the trim in. If the rubber is warm it may go in better. Push it out in the sun and let it do its thing first? Never done it so report back how it goes!

Yes, I agree. When I want some trim, I find that a well-lubricated tool is best, although I have never noticed whether a warm rubber is easier to insert

Good to see this project moving forward again

I want to take mine out but I dont want to hurt them.
