that was awesome. They had an in-car shot from I think Waltrip and he was drifting along the back stretch![]()

I was away having a mini vacation in Palm Springs, so I had to dvr the race and watch it lastnight.WOW! That was a mess! 14 cautions? Seemed like every restart somebody was sliding up or snapping around. I was pretty suprised by Jeff missing pitroad and Jimmie missing his box...twice and then the 48 hitting the speedy dry.
And whats up with all these motor changes and failures??! It's getting pretty bad. I dislike Kyle, but him winning from the pole or the back and at home was pretty cool to see. (punk)![]()

I think it is gonna put the motor builders on a very level field. At some point, they'll all be throwing away their notes from years past cause they just don't apply. I think it is cool that they are gonna start taking chances with the engines rather than "KNOWING" what they have.

apparently its from a batch of parts from the same vendor.

It's odd that Kenseth blew up 1 or 2 laps into the race and Edwards blew up 1 or 2 laps away from the end of the race.
#44
maybe they should have changed the engines prior to the race

This season has started off really weird. When Waltrip is in the top 10 in pts, you know things are not right.![]()

felt bad for Carl. He drove a smart race and to have an engine let go with 1 lap to go? All I can say is WOW.
#49
If Carl wasn't points racing, he would've finished the race quicker and the engine wouldn't have blown up.
See Kyle races for wins, less time on the track = less time the engine has to blow up

JK though. That does suck for Edwards blowing up with 2 to go.

i'm amazed kurt busch finished in the top 20 with a broken valve spring. the crew had the hood up during a caution and i think i heard DW mention it.props to kyle busch on the win. during the race while mid-pack, his crew chief was telling him how the leaders were complaining about a loose condition and busch snapped back, "well, here's the difference: THEY'RE FASTER." sometimes his attitude pisses me off but other times i just cant help but laugh.

Were you watching when he made the pass on Bowyer for the lead late in the race. It was either him or his spotter came on the radio and said "Good Night Gracie" as he made the pass. You couldn't help but smile. He is arrogant at times, but he's able to back it up on the track.

Don't worry. Mr. Napa will be back to wrecking himself and others in no time. It is doubtful that his good luck will last.
Disclaimer: I cannot stand Michael Waltrip. It is my educated opinion that he is where he is due to his older and much more successful brother (who can still outdrive many out there), the late DE, and his ability to annoyingly get his voice in people's heads to sell parts. Yes, I have met the man.

that was Kyle being Kyle. He does make the races fun and interesting.

Here's some more on Mr. Busch from this past weekend

Kyle Busch - Best Man: Kyle Busch, the hometown boy, was a hero to a happy couple when he volunteered for an unusual extra assignment Friday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. NASCAR fans Damon and Heather Landry were getting married on one side of Victory Lane as Busch walked into the other side after winning the pole for the Shelby 427. Someone involved in the wedding told Busch that the couple didn't have a best man. "I'll be the best man," Busch said. Damon and Heather were thrilled. Busch, wearing his fire suit and cap, stood next to Damon during the ceremony, delaying the pole award presentation. Busch removed his hat and bowed, with his hands folded in front of him, when the chaplain started a prayer. When the ceremony ended, Busch saw that the newlyweds didn't have a wedding cake. So Busch gave the couple several bags of M&Ms (his sponsor) to nibble on during the celebration.(ESPN)(3-1-2009)

That story got me thinking......who do you think has the best sponsor perks?
RedBull and Miller Lite would work best for me.![]()

I love cereal, so Kelloggs would be good, Little Debbie, and when Ken Schrader had Red Baron Pizza, because pizza is awesome.

Red Bull for the Red Bull and Jagers, Jack Daniels because...well it's Jack, Home Depot and Lowe's becuase I like tools and tinkering around the house.

Im sure Jamie McMurrays team has a good time after the races. This also got me thinking......Sprint finally got what it wanted. All the cell phone cars are with new sponsorships.

Well, almost. Penske's #12 is still sponsored by Verizon and their paint scheme is very Verizon-like, though it doesn't say Verizon on the car. So Sprint did get what they want for the most part.

Could these drivers be even more obvious in pushing Coke. At least pour half of it out to make it appear they actually drink the stuff. I think Stewart is the only one that acutally enjoys it.

Kyle is lucky, he gets all the NOS drinks he wants. I LOVE them!, but they are kind hard to find where I live.

Verizon is going through with Alltel's commitment I think through next year. Bigto Verizon in doing that, they could have just said see ya later to Penske but didn't, even though they don't get any recognition. Have you guys noticed that there are now Verizon sponsored moments throughout the race? I would like to see Stremme win just to see who he thanks in victory lane afterward.
I agree with the whole Coke thing, it's almost comical these days with all the Coke stuff.

Have you guys noticed that other than Bristol, Martinsville, New Hampshire, and the road courses, that qualifying really doesn't matter a whole lot anymore? Given it helps, but it seems like more and more drivers win or finish well even when they start from the back.

Quote, originally posted by b2m_vw » the road courses,. I still have NO CLUE how Kyle won like he did lastyear. Same thing with Montoya. Absolutly ZERO.

Yeah, I give a lot of credit to Verizon for sticking with their commitment. I believe they signed on and then later were rejected by Sprint, but since the deal was done they just made the paint scheme what it is now. It's also funny that Penske has the same deal with Malboro is IRL. The cars just say Penske, but everyone knows what it is anyway.
