We've come to pretty much the same conclusion.

Normally from a mechanical over-rev and valve float, I.e. shifting into 3rd when near redline in 4th for instance. Could also be a broken valve spring... older techtonics perhaps?

I keep asking him if he was driving hard. He says no. We still want to pull the head apart, just to investigate a little further. Lots of new parts + no history + catastrophic vr failure needs explanation!

A lot of different opinions about what happened here. Sounds to me like he blew the motor. Nobody is going to know exactly what happened unless you were there. Why do people continue to take guesses at something that you did not have the ability to witness? I'm not being a arse, just don't get it. Good luck with the fix Hardey

I don't know which extreme is better...beat to hell or just assembled and parked on the showroom floor having not been driven.

customer "So, that's the turbo R32, how fast is it?"
salesman "Don't know. We just parked it there. It's new, hasn't even been driven"
customer "Can I test drive it?"
salesman "Uh, don't know, not sure if it even runs"

    LOL...that's funny dude...

I really like that manual transmission, is that custom too? Why not post the miles in the advertisement. I have to say, that is such a haggard website in terms of advertising. No wonder that dealership is struggling.

with all the bashing; I wonder if they might pull out being forum sponsor.

I would...big eff you to all the naysayers.

try running a dealership yourself not a simple task IMHO

It's not about running the dealership, it's about how you advertise it on the internet. I'm a full sponsor on mbworld.org for mbwestminster. That forum is a giant compared to the vortex. Take a look at how we run it...in fact, take a look at our pre-owned website.... http://www.mbwestminster.com.

You need to be straight up about the cars you sell, and VERY descriptive. Every pre-owned car we advertise, from CPO Mercedes to Mercury, has accurate, extremely detailed descriptions, free carfax's, full vehicle documented history, etc, etc. Take a peek

I would agree...Emich's website is lacking. However, for some reason MBWestminster doesn't even load on my computer...probably just a glitch.
