Bike update.... Its still ****ed, But i think im learning and have figured out some issues. first off the holes in the head are not freeze plugs. They are spark plug weap holes. The two coolant inlet tubes enter between the plugs and sounds like i may need new orings so they dont leak. Should fix the coolant leak. Think my valves may still be miss adjusted I am having a hard time understanding the manual and its poor pictures to know which direction the lobes on the cam should be facing when i am at TDC on the crank. If i can get the positioning understood i should be able to readjust it properly if it is currently wrong. once that is fixed i can dry the plugs as im sure they are wet from the coolant leaking above them. If i get that all fixed it should fire. two attempts so far so i had to stop cuz i was loosing my patience. if anyone has some sugestions or references that would be great. I watched one youtube video and saw based on waht he did my cams where out of positon, But he took the video at 4am and it was dark so he used just a flashlight to try and point out the needed info... NOT REAL HELPFUL.

this is how to do it on a ninja 500 not at all what i did on mine so i think ive made a few more errors. in the pictures you see the feeler guage under the adjuster for each valve. i was adjusting those but had the feeler guage in between the cam lobe and the strike plate for the valves. so i think i mis measure and adjusted wrong. also i still may have had the cams alligned wrong.

ya Ive been reading that last couple days. Crazy but they did some epic extreme hyper miler techniques etc.. like probably didn't go faster than 40mph.
My cousins car gets better than rated gas mileage and Ive heard more than one story of the same on other tdi's too and her car only has about 15,000 miles on it.
My car should be coming in friday morning, we will see. Im reluctant on getting it tho, it might be juuuuust out of our budget depending on what they give us for trade in and an APR. Were going out of town all weekend and my birthday is Saturday so it would be nice to get it. If not the tdi theres a couple tiguans for way cheaper we might look at.
I saw a SEL Premium tdi the other day with awesome wheels it looks just like an Audi S5 but with 4 doors.
My housing deal fell apart two weeks prior to closing. Chases underwriter wont approve the loan. So much for pre approval bull****. I'm so angry and depressed now its not even funny.
We went in on a Sat. night an hour before close and they layed down a great offer, so she took it. They also try to finance without a down payment and kind got pissy when we made him redo the paperwork to put money down. Same situation happened to me at a different dealer I got my car from so I assume its common practice to keep the loan amount as high as possible.
Plus they said its gonna be another week before the car comes in so now im getting burnt off on the deal. I wanted it on my birthday yesterday so it's just whatever now
I can certainly relate on not wanting the payments. But I chose to take the payments because the A4 was starting to cost me just as much. I think another dealer might be worth taking your business to since they know you want this high demand car and will assume they got you by the short hairs. Our other dealer of choice was Ottawa but partly because we are not to far from them. I will say that I prefer Ottawa for service over Naperville.

Bank said I didn't have enough lines of credit (car only at the moment) need at least two more open lines like credit cards with 6-12 months of good standing. Also I had a few late payments after bankruptcy 3 years ago. The underwriter felt we were a risk so denied the loan. Ill get my Ernest money back and the loan apparently money and just out the home inspection. If the house is still fs when I try again ill probably still go for it. People keep tellingme things happen for a reason but I don't agree. I seem to fall into amazing deals that kill me I the house. Ex mist of my cars, the bike, the house ect. I just have bad luck or this is karma and I must have been a complete duck I a prior life.
But I wouldn't beat yourself up about it to much. If you really do have the bad luck you speak of this would have been a lemon. Which means your luck is changing!
ya my wifes credit is worse than mine. she has no real payments after bancrupcy and just her school loans which arent being paid yet as she is still in school. her car has only been showing up for about a year but its not just in her name. so the best thing i can do is get a gas card or open up any credit card and use it minimally and pay it off each month and build up some better history. i also have a few misc items on my credit that should have been removed so i have to research as to why they are showing up. like the $6 for nicor. i havent had a gas bill in over 18 months and i know it was paid in full. so there is some stupid things hurting me that i have to fix.
well since last week sucked so much im gunna see if this week gets any better. plan for tonight is to try and fix the bike for the 3rd time. found out i tottaly messed up the valve adjustment. i was measuring from the cam lobe to the rocker arm. should have been the clearance under the tappet. and during the whole time i i had the cams in the wrong position so ive got some better pictures and instructions gunna try this again and hope i get it right. ive also learned where the coolant leak is coming from and should be as simple as cleaning a pipe and and possible a new set of o-rings.
I had to get a $300 prepaid CC from my bank to help my credit about a year before we decided to get a house. Unfortunately companies are not obligated to remove debts paid after they go to collections. So you have to hound them to take it off. Which sometimes encourages them to try to collect additional money from you. But this all gives you months to save for a larger down payment.
Hopefully you got that valve and coolant problem licked. Weather is starting to look pretty nice now. Unfortunately my bike will be putting a lot less miles on this year because my supervisor advised me not to take it to work as long as the union is on strike.
fixed the coolant leak. re did the valves and this time i believe i did it correct. i measured under the tappet and i had the the marks on the cams in the correct position. bike only started with choke and a jump of the car. i couldnt get it to idle on its own without the choke. so im still sol. idk what else to do.
Oh and maybe its time for a new Batt. you shouldn't need to juice the bike to get it to start.

carb rebuild, valve adjustment, all new fluids and filters, new cables, new tires new fluid and fork seals, new fluid in rear shock. Basically only big items left are clutch which if the bike ever runs solid will get changed next year and brakes, at least change the pads rotors are $$$ and dont think ill keep it long enough to justify $600 worth of rotors.
it might need a battery. but it take a full charger if i leave it on the tender overnight if i put a meter on it its says its good. so im not sure. ive redone the valves 3 times now i think this time i did it right. found better instructions and pictures. last time i was measuring fromt the cam lobe to the rocker which was wrong. this time i measured from the tappet(adjuster) to the top of the valve spring as shown in the picutres. i made sure i was on the tdc mark on the crank for each poistion and the in/ex marks on the cams were also alligned as shown in the diagram. my carbs may now be set to rich as i think the fuel mix screw is backed out and extra 1/4-1/2 turn and im sure they need to be resync'd. my air mix screw also probalby needs to be adjusted to get the right idle. it is definetly fiering on all cyclinders as each header got hot. and i could feel decent preasure out the exhaust. The coolant leak did get fixed i needed new orings on the coolant inlet pipes thats where my leak was coming from. at this piont idk if i just need some simple adjustments or if i have a bigger issue. Not sure im running rich cuz when the choke is on that makes the mix richer as it chokes off the intake and dumps more fuel.
