Since there's no place in Helen to wash your car, Carlik Jones of Soap Suds in Atlanta is bringing the car wash to you! On Saturday morning Carlik will be setting up in the overflow lot from 8:00am until he runs out of water. He'll assist you with the equipment, but you'll have to do your own washing. For those of you who want to wash your car Friday night, there is a coin wash @ 10mi south of Helen on 17/75. Thanks again to Carlik for adding another FREE feature to SOWO!

Mapquest Helen GA and then do a search for carwash, there are 3 or 4 within 15 miles of the place.

Remember the free car wash is only good until we run out of water! First come first serve!

Can someone explain the set up?

Will there be a bunch of hoses and a few people can wash at a time or is going to be one by one?

Not much different than a coin wash. Ideally, car #1 pulls up rinses off, starts washing. Car #2 pulls up does same. Bt the time car #3 pulls up, car #1 should be ready to rinse. Then repeat! It's not meant to be a replacement for washing your car in the driveway, only meant to help those people whose cars are already relatively clean, just need to get rid of some road nast before the show.

I live just outside of Helen so I have carwash info. Heading south out of Helen on 75 (the main road through Helen), I reset the tripo passing the Circle K. Just so you know you are on the right track, at 1.2 miles you will see an open field with a gazebo sitting on a mound on left.

The first carwash is at 7.4 miles. This is a Chevron station with bays attached behind it. It has 4 bays, but last I saw, only two were functional.

The second carwash is farther away (9.6 miles from the Circle K), but bigger and nicer. If you pass the Chevron, you will come to a traffic light with an Ingles grocery store on your right. Turn left at this light and you will be on 129. Continue through the traffic circle and continue straight on 129 (aim for the McDonalds coming out of the circle). At 9.6 miles you will see the other carwash on your left just before the Sonic.

    I hope this is helpful.
