you just use the first four preset buttons as they corespond to the position of the number of the code. for example if you want to enter the code 0111 your code that is displayed on the radio is probably 1000 so you would push the button for preset 1 nine times in order to get the 1 to scroll through 1-9 and then back to 0. then for the second number you would push preset button 2 until you reach the 1 and so on. hope this helps.

You ain't gonna believe the cause of the no-sound problem with the '91 Cabby. I finally gave up and took it to the dealer. Turns out that veedubsters code worked perfectly. However, I accidentally pulled the cable from the back of the radio when I removed it for the serial number. And they also found disconnected rear speaker cables. Not sure how that one happened. Anyway, my Heidelberg VII is cranking out tunes once again, but it was a $90 lesson for me to check the obvious first. Thanks again, veedubster, for your advice. Virtual beers for everyone

thanks for the code but now i have another problem and i hope you can help me. The instructions say to hold down the MODE and SCAN buttons at the same time in order to enter the security code. When I do that, the word "SAFE" starts blinking, but then comes back on solid. so when am i suppose to enter the code. thanks for all the help youve provided on this site.

im not sure. i have never seen or heard of this problem. you do need to make sure that you are holding down the right scan button. what model year is your car? each radio has a different way of entering the code and you need to make sure that you are using the correct procedure. another thing to watch out for is if the radio is locked out. if the code was entered wrong 3 times the radio goes into a locked mode and the only way to unlock it is to let the car sit for an hour with the key on. then you might be able to unlock it. hope this helps if you have any other questions just let me know.

I bought this VW radio at the flea market not knowing I need a code to activate it. I do n ot have the serial number of the vehicle whereby it was removed. The radio serial is - VWZ4Z7A4097126. Its a premium 5 radio. It has other numbers (DE P/N 09351369). Next to where Premium t is written it has additional number - 1J0 035 180 B

Can you help. It would greatly be appreciated.
