Yeah I doubt they'd care too much. My dealer would do it for free, they don't seem to know how anymore. I called a couple dealers in Ontario, they said they needed to bring her in to put her on the scanner lol, and charge me $50. I think VW itself is fine with doing this as a service, but some individual dealers have decided to be ***** about it.

on your 96 passat you would press and hold mode and scan then it should show the numbers 1000 on the screen then enter the code and then press and hold mode and scan again until it flashes safe and then let go of the buttons. then it should be unlocked.

Is it a problem if the radio is from a different car than it will be installed in?

I have a 91 gti, but am putting in a radio from a MK3.... so... VIN won't jive with the Serial # of radio?

this radio serial number is not right. it needs to be a number that starts with vwz. if that radio does not have a vwz number then it is too old and i wont be able to get the code for you.

ok lets see the number that you have as the vin is actually the radio number that i need, but i still need your vin number of the car to get the code for you.
