If only they'd figure out how to bring more TDI's into the N/A instead of wasting thier time and money on "cute" commercials; when most people aren't buying car because they don't have jobs, have severley reduced hours, or are afriad for their jobs....Who's the brain-trust of VWOA, they are so out of touch with reality its not even funny anymore.
Now they are pushing a forum that currently appeals ALMOST EXCLUSIVLEY to Jetta TDI owners....so lets make a big push at one car...thats an "economy" car, but costs double what a really economical car costs(fit/accent/yaris/versa). Theres a reason the CleanTDI isn't moving...it costs too much. Same deal with the smart car...people are no going to pay that much for "ECONOMY".
Economy-Careful, thrifty management of resources, such as money, materials, or labor
Spending an extra 10-15k doesn't meet the very definition of the word
EXPAND THE TDI LINEUP!!! POLO TDI...HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE THEM TO FIGURE THIS OUT??
I'm not paying 35,000 Canadian for a Deisel...its that simple...I could buy 3 Hyundai accents for that at the current pricing...
There are an abudance of rotten old mk3 TD's (that we got in canada in the mid 90's before the TDI)....you guys know why those things sold? Because the were GL's with a basic TD motor, and they were CHEAP, you did n't have to pay an extra 20,000$ to get into one compared to a "simular" asian conterpart.
People who test drive VW's love them, but when they find out that they can buy a slightly smaller asian car, thats nearly as fuel efficient for 10,000$ less most of those sales go right out the door.
All the development is DONE, all you have to do is SELL MORE AFFORDABLE CARS WITH TDI ENGINES. Hell, why not make them AL TDI's? With the existing Skoda brand, you even get the added bonus that it makes the VW's a more desirable, up-market brand, which they have poured millions of dollars into doing already.
