i'm hoping to have my front end put together in the next 2 weeks. i need to order my por-15 then i can really take off with progress. i'm gonna go big and pick up a hobart welder soon so progress will slow as i save up funds.
progress from today
chrome is over-rated i'm definately going anti-bling with this build
done. not top dollar but good for on a budget build
kids helped too

I've done some work in the past few weeks.
short runner and fuel rail are fitted up and mounted. 440cc injectors
subframe cleaned up and painted with chassis saver. its just like por-15 only you can buy it at snavely and dosch and its 35$ for a pint.
oh and the new wheel i picked up at h2o from the guys at orchid euro

While your doing parts replacement...get the bushings for the front crossmenber to frame...often over looked part that makes the engine movement un bearable...yea my spelling and grammer suck....
#118
thanks. heres a little diy for some who might not know. i wanted to paint my distributor to match my engine.
at the bottom there is a roll pin. grab a punch and knock that out
then pull the shaft up through on the rotor side but be careful there is a washer in between the rotor and the base of the distributor. unscrew the sensor and carefully slide that up and out. then mask and paint
installed
brakes rebuilt and installed, new front wheel bearings, 10.1 brakes

one of my favorite ongoing projects, glad you're still working on it. Whatever became of the wooden wheel surround? Not that the other wheel isn't sweet as hell and all..

tail lights with the tint. real easy![]()
Sweet car. What did you use to tint your tail lights and where did you buy it?
#131
no i just picked up that wheel cause i'm the other kind of wheel whore. i love unique steering wheels. the wood scirocco wheel is still my end goal for this car. its collecting dust at my dad's. i should get on him since he's unemployed at the moment.
tail light tint is a tranpearant candy apple red i bought at a craft store in the model car section
#133
oh sorry i forgot to mention it comes in a spray can. you just have to do good prep work and they will come out nice. i imagine a clean clear coat will make them even better
#134
edit: my stupidity.
glad to see you got some progress goin on. i haven't checked this thread in a while.
