This is one of my all time favorite Legos from when I was a kid. I was really into 4x4's at the time, so I was super excited about this one.

The box has a copyright of 1986 and the sticker has a copyright of 1988, so by the later date, I was about 13 when I got this. It's probably also one of the last Legos I got as a kid.

Later in High School I decided to modify it.

I lengthened the frame and the body, enlarged the rear wheel wells, added front amber lights, changed the red only rear lights to red, amber and white, removed the rear spare tire, and put dual antennas in the mirrors. Oh, and I lifted it and gave it working suspension. The rear is trailing arms and a single coil spring. The front has leading arms and a single spring as well. The rear works great, but the front doesn't work as well. I originally had a static lift, but decided to try and make it functional. I had built a hard top for it, but that has been lost.

When my nephew started getting into Legos, this was the only thing of mine he was banned from playing with when he comes to my parents' house.

Haven't been here in a min also haven't picked up Lego's in a long time outside of for my real car build lol. I've been keeping up with what's going on in the lego world and can't wait for the MK1 to reach stores. Was in the mall yesterday and couldn't just walk by the lego store so I went in. 'One doesn't simply walk into a lego store and not buy anything' so I picked this up

Also scored a lego passport and my first stamp! I know it's for kids but it's def going into my glass lego display

They are building the second Lego certified store here in HK and this one is walking distance so I am fairly excited, I think it will be open in late July. They are also releasing some local sets over the next few weeks but knowing hype and queues in Hong Kong these will not be easy to get a hold of.

      - what is in the lego passport? any significance to it? Also the Benz is prob my favorite set in the Speed Champs

-That is pretty cool you got a store walking distance and those sets looks equally as cool. Lego store in walking distance can be both a blessing and a curse lmao

Still forcing myself not to buy the carousel and its making me depressed

you can't even buy them directly.... you only have the "chance" to get one of the building box if you spend more than $1200HKD at the new store

Everything ends up in the second hand toy shops in Mong Kok and such, In's Point has more Lego than a lot of Lego stores combined already. I was doing the rounds there Monday but did not see any of these yet as I thought the first one may have released this past weekend but did not see anything. I also got to see in the new Lego store last night but still a ways to go, as my local cinema is in the same building, 13th floor for the movies and 9 for the Lego store as everything is vertical in HK.

Finished my latest creation the other day. Death star docking bay based on docking bay 327 from a new hope. Over 4000 pieces and took me 2 years to design in lego digital designer and gather all the pieces I needed. I decided this was a good way to display all my imperial minifigs so I based the scene on the emperors arrival to the death star 2 in ROTJ

I used to have a sliver '83 GTI, so I will probably buy it anyway.
I think the upper molding/rub rail is distracting and can be a regular brick to be flush. other than that, it's pretty nifty. i need to get the mini. wife already has the van and i built the beetle.

This was my first "advanced" model when I was a little kid. Still have the OG box from when I first got it and all the pieces!

      Insert catchy phrase here.
