    glad this is still around.

picked up this set during a vacation to MA/RI this summer:

    also, kinda cool story...

while i was finishing up college, my parents went on a quick spring vacation up through OH/PA/NY. they happened to stop at Fallingwater the same day the Lego designer was there selling and signing official sets. my parents managed to snag me a set for my birthday. however, when i came home and built it, the special edition book was tore up and a bunch of pages were all messed up during the printing process.

fast forward to this summer; when we stopped outside of Boston at a Lego store in a mall, my dad and i started talking to the manager about how i've been building Legos for ~18 years (i'm 23 now). as soon as we checked out, he handed us the special edition Fallingwater book from their in-store set - said they didn't need it anymore. it was my first time to any Lego type building and i felt like a kid again.

not a big deal, but this is definitely not the first time Lego has gone out of their way for customer service. because of their support over the years, no matter what, i will continue to support them. i have never had a bad experience with them, even when sets were missing major pieces; they always take care of it right away.

/end story and back to pictures.
    welcome to the layer cake

just found this thread...it's bringing back a lot of memories.

I remember when I was younger, having to move country every couple of years, how angry/sad I would get having to pack all my lego into boxes, and finding them completely destroyed when they arrived

I really should go into the attick and open up my boxes of lego and see what I have

    I remember I had these

I also had a train set...yellow freight train if I remember correctly.

I also remember as a kid how badly I wanted this set but never got it

you can still buy old lego sets in the box online. Amazon has some good deals sometimes but most of their sets are outrageously priced

i think these sets defined a low point for LEGO. when all the sets looked like this, they just lacked the LEGO feel with the large pre-built/sized pieces. so glad they have ditched that and moved towards more realistic sets again.

Can you buy these two sets in store? Or online only? Canada as well? thanks

  31. 01-01-2011 03:05 PM #346
You can try Toys'R'Us or Mastermind Toys stores in Canada for those two sets. Lego Store if you're in Calgary. You can always order them from shop.lego.com.

The Shuttle was an enjoyable build for me.
