GREAT HAUL!! My wife is tolerant of my LEGO collecting, but she's not in to it... yet.

The wife and I went to the LEGO store at Potomac Mills and went a little nuts...
My wife wanted the Emporium and the Medieval Market. I wasn't planning on getting the firehouse (I wanted the City Police Station and a technic Helicopter) but all three of these sets were being retired so we just got them all.

Here is some progress from last night:
My wife's Emporium- this is 2,182 pieces and 3 full-size instruction books!:
The Emporium has some awesome touches, one is the guy in the changing room (it's made of the capes) and he has yellow legs because he's not wearing any pants. He's holding a pair of blue legs (pants) in his hands.
My Fire Brigade- it's 2,231 pieces and 2 full-size instruction books:
Book 1 complete:
I'm generally a fast builder but there are so many pieces for book 1 it took me a while per step just to find the pieces. It was 73 pages of instructions and it took me about 5 hours to finish, I was up until 1 this morning.![]()

I finished the Fire Brigade last night.
I probably had 11 or so hours into it. The main things that slowed me down were that we were watching Captain America, the Hulk and Thor again while building to get psyched up for The Avengers. Also, since we are building in front of the TV there was limited space to spread out so there was a LOT of searching for pieces.
Anyway, I'm now in the post-build regret stage and wishing I had more LEGO to put together. My wife still has to finish the top floor of the Emporium and she still has the Medieval Market to put together.

I think it means you just have to get more Lego.
Thanks.
=================
Our LUG did a display at the May 4th Star Wars Toronto Day for Sick Kids Hospital. It was a lot of fun.
Our guy with the fighters for the trench was late so we tried to fill in until he arrived.
The kids were the best part.
A little video of flying down the trench.

That is totally awesome! I'm sure you made a lot of sick kids really happy.![]()

My wife still had her Medieval Market to build and I was a bit jealous so we made a quick trip to Target to pick up something for me to build.

not sure about yours, but my local Target has been running discounts on Lego City for a couple weeks now, and it has been tough to walk out empty-handed.
welcome to the layer cake

Find the sets here: http://www.brickset.com
May have links to instructions.

You can also try Peeron for older set instructions -> http://www.peeron.com/inv

We had to return some chairs to IKEA so of course we had to go to the LEGO store.
Wife got the Seaside House and a Minifig Accessory Pack:
I got Technic Flatbed Truck (8109):
I saved $20 on the flatbed because the box was all banged up.
The 8109 Flatbed was a pretty awesome build. There are two "transmissions" for the truck that are changed with a switch, one for the raising and lowering of the bed and another for the wheel lift. And it's powered! I might have to take it apart and re-build the wheel lift, I missed a step that had a scale image for lining up the gears and it's now off. Ugh, it took me about 5 hours to build.

Follow-up from another thread: After I built it the wheel lift was getting hung up and the cord for the motor was in the way of the bed. I had to take it partially apart to re-route the cord out of the way and had to tear apart the rear end because I hadn't pushed one of the shaft pieces through far enough and it was blocking one side of the wheel lift.
Once I got it all back together the wheel lift wasn't flipping right. Turns out I missed a step that showed the proper alignment of a gear (one of the 1:1 blowups) so last night I totally tore it back down and started over from the beginning.
It is definitely an awesome design and super complicated with the switching mechanism.

If you don't have any blocks nearby you can now build something virtually using the Google Chrome browser at http://www.buildwithchrome.com/static/map Pretty cool![]()

I don't want to build in Australia...
EDIT: Holy crap, talk about buggy. It runs like crap and you can't save your progress and come back, you have to work from start to finish in one sitting. And the parts selection is pretty sparse...not even 3x2 pieces.
It could be awesome, but it's a half-assed implementation.![]()

So after my second attempt at the build I got all the way to the end, where you create the vertical frame for the bed- it's like the 3rd to last step. And I realized that I sas missing a part. Turned out that I used the wrong piece all the way at the beginning of the build. It was a piece that happened to work in the wrong spot at the early stages of the build but they were not interchangable for this last step.
I just left it out, the prospect of rebuilding the entire model AGAIN was just too much to take.

All I can say is wow! All of the toys posted here are awesome, great and outstanding. I have seen many toys in my life but I have never seen such attractive collectibles ever before. I just found it impossible to remove my eyes from here.

My wife just called me from BJ's and they had these in the toy aisle for only $15 a piece. Score.
They are normally $20 elsewhere. I've been wanting that garbage truck for a while.![]()

Thought I would share a couple pics of these minifigs I found at the Lego Store in the Westfield Mall in west London on the weekend. Team GB figures, nine to collect in total, I picked up 5 and got one double of the gymnast.
