    Thread: LEGO Picture Thread

It's going to be a Lego Christmas. I bought a bunch of new sets for my kids' presents (and me).

Seeing Lego commercials on TV makes me happy. I can't remember when I last saw them.

This is pretty cool (not mine)

Last one I remember was Zack: Lego Maniac.

My son found some old Lego commericals on Lego.com like Zack the Lego Maniac. Trip down memory lane.

So who's hoping to get Lego for Christmas?

      Not getting, but giving

I had some time off work so what else was there to do... re-caulk the bathtub... while the caulk is drying... BUILD LEGO!

      Rapid fire system version 2

2 XL motors to drive the tracks
1 M motor to power the launcher
2 IR receivers to control them

I imported set 8258 from the USA. I opened the box and found the bags aren't numbered. It's going to be a long build.

If you have relatives or friends in the USA, you can ask them to buy/order it for you. S@H Lego.com USA won't ship to a Canadian address. You can also visit the USA and get it a Lego Store down there. I paid my sister and Mom to buy mine and bring it back from the USA. It was around $160USD all together with sales tax at a Lego Store in the Boston area.

You can try BrickLink. Lowest I've seen is $250USD. Some Canadian sellers on BrickLink have it for around $300USD.

Since when does LEGO number the bags? Isn't half the fun of building a new set having to search for each part in a giant stack?

They do label the bags in the "easy build" sets like City Corner. Bag 1 & 2 is the bus and bus stop, bag 3 is the skateboard/bike shop, bag 4 and 5 is the pizza shop.

I find it quicker to build with the numbered bag system. I don't spend as much sorting and searching.

I'm procrastinating on the 8258 set and built this MOC in the meantime...

In my day when you bought a Lego set, in the box was an elephant gun. You had to hunt down an elephant and kill it for it's tusks and carve every Lego piece out of ivory.

My daughter and I just built this kit that Santa brought:

Bags 1 & 2 were the ATV and checkpoint. Bag 3 was the tractor, bags 4 & 5 were the trailer. Made it a little easier as she built the first two parts and I built the tractor and trailer. There are certainly kits out there without numbered bags as well.

My girlfriend somehow found this set online for me for Christmas. My jaw dropped at the 1600+ pieces of amazing:

Needless to say, I've recently been buying more parts online, my childhood has been brought back to life.

I thought about ordering the Beetle as it was on sale at Lego.com. When I went back to the site, they were sold out.

We were dropping off the Jetta at our dealership (Lindsay VW) for recall work and they had that LEGO Beetle built in a display case. So neat.
