Went to a Miata gathering in Bristol, TN last weekend. Autocross was one of the activities and I brought home the big hardware. Course was laid out haphazardly, to put it nicely. If it wasn't lined with chalk the last third of it would have been very difficult to figure out (few, if any, pointers).

Fun run after WDCR SCCA #5. Took off the RE11s and put on a set of R-comps. Went faster.

Last WDCR event of the year. Got second in class and moved up to third in points. It was a good local season, wish it went on a few more weeks.
Ran two cameras on the car: one facing forward and one facing backwards. Got tired of the co-driving wife asking which cones she hit so I put one looking back so we could see the course workers running after her carnage. This is my last run from both angles, catching my spinning into the finish beautifully:

Hello,
I've only been to a couple of events this year. But it's still good to get out and have some fun, even on street tires:

This week we're running the North Carolina Autocross Championship. The STS class has seven entries. After day one I'm running second and the missus is fourth, so it's been pretty good so far. Big meaty wide open course had me thinking of using 3rd gear but I resisted temptation.

Final Autocrossers Inc. event of the year, and likely the last time we'll be out playing in parking lots till next spring. Fortunately, I finished out the season by winning my class so we'll have that to look back on over the winter.

Autocross season has begun in the Washington DC area. We started last weekend with NCCBMWCCA, instructing newbies at their school. Before they wrapped up for the day they let us instructors have a few more runs in our cars and this was my best:

And today was the first points event for NCCBMWCCA. After a downpour in the morning, the afternoon was nonstop drizzle. I was driving a very good STR 2006 MX5 instead of my regular STS Miata and the power difference is pretty significant. I had a couple spins during the day but my clean runs were pretty decent. The car's owner beat me by half a second or so, which wasn't as bad as I expected, so that's encouraging.
We're back in action tomorrow for the season opener for Autocrossers Inc. at the same lot. I put what's left of last year's R1Rs on so I'm hoping for less rain or we're going to be done for.
