Put in new axles from O'Riley's. Thought I'd give their lifetime warranty a shot, and they're not going in a b5 so I'm sure I wont rattle my teeth off.

The right side is significantly thinner than the old one, which I like because I can go a bit lower but I've heard stories of increased torque steer, we'll see.

The hose from the coolant flange to the heater core split, so I had to replace the hose in the mall parking lot. Couldn't get the clamp off the firewall side, so I cut the hose to half-length, ran 3/4" from the flange to the cut, and then 1/2" line near the full distance inside the 3/4".

Kinda ghetto but it's holding fine.

Installed a clutched alternator pulley on the truck and it stopped the jumping accessory belt at idle. Also pulled a new fan shroud with the two speed fan relay/sender and associated wiring from the yard for $15. Now I just gotta read up on how to wire it in properly.

Got new rockers from Columbia for the bus.

Determined that the coolant temp sensor on the Jetta was bad, and that I need to fix or replace the cluster.

Yeah, I'm guessing its the cluster. A while back I had a thread here about the oil buzzer that would not shut off. Eventually it went EEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeerrr...dead, and it took the temp gauge with it. The oil pressure is just fine, and all the other gauges work without issue. The harness is fine, tho bridging post 4 to ground should yield ~5v and I'm only seeing 3.8v. Also there should be resistance across posts 2 and 4 on the sensor, and theres not, hence my idea about the sensor being bad... I replaced it when i did the coolant neck, so it may have been faulty all along.
Im not excited about getting a NEW new cluster, im broke as a joke right now, and im guessing ones from the JY are pricey too :/

Sorry for the long long reply!

Where are you getting a new new one.

All I could ever find was used new to me. And you will be out around $100 for a working one.

There is "a guy" that will rebuild them for ya. Promised to work. For like $85 but shipping back and forth with a car down doesn't seem like fun.

I was talking to Finn, the parts guy at Garrrrfffffs down in Orem, apparently VW is dumping lots of mk3 stuff so the prices are hella low He said he could get new clusters. I need to call him and see what he can get me.

Finished running the wires and hoses and setting up the trunk. Then I blew the bottom out of one of my rear bags, because I can't read.

Thanks for all the help Jason!

Today on the Jetta, I wired in a rear domelight, re-ran the oil pressure gauge wire, and tested a set of Volvo horns. Ill probably get the new fabric on the headliner today too.
