Thread: 95 Jetta, open fuel door?

    1. 05-14-2009 05:53 PM #1
I've got this 95 Jetta I've been working on and jesus christ I can't open the fuel door.

How is it supposed to be done and how can it be done manually?

      search couldn't work for me..

I've got pending city officials coming to give me a ticket and I can't move it because It is out of gas and I can't fill gas with extra tank because fuel door can't open!

      Unlock the WHOLE car..

lemme elaborate. when you lock the car, a pin pops out and sits in the loop of metal on the fuel door. quite clever. took me 3 months of frustration to finally realize it

ALL of your door pins have to be popped (read: unlock the whole car.)

or look in the truck and actuate the gas door by hand. There is a emergency release handle.
I have to laugh when someone calls me an a*****e. I've been called far worse than that.

they stopped including the gas door actuators after 1996.
you can install one in a 97-99 car easily if you want to lock your gas.
